[Solved] Sonar X2 crash - vst help

hey there, I tried loading a project I started before the holidays and during the load it crashes.
It seems to be doing this during the last part of loading Kontakt.
All it is : 2 tracks of kontakt, 1 of stylus rmx, 1 audio (vocal) no fx
Its an outline of something I was writing and I really need to recover at least some of it.
 
Is there a way to get a project to load with out vst instruments so I can get the midi files here?
I really need the midi to recover the changes and basic arrangement.
 
All my other projects seem to load fine, I can not figure out why this particular one is crashing.

    Open the file in safe mode. Hold the shift key while opening the project.

    Also make sure you have the latest Kontakt update.

    Load it in Safe mode, and tell it not to load any plugs.

    Thanks everyone! I did figure out the shift key for safe mode, but really appreciate the responses. I forgot how to do it, and it took me a while to find it searching the help files. (I get a little impatient when a new prject keeps crashing and I realize I have no idea what the changes were.)
    I actually got it to start with the kontakt and stylus tracks, but there were 2 other plugins I didn't even recognize in the list on loading. I will trouble shoot this and post crash results when I can get a repro on it.
