2,500 sq ft Home Built From Scratch in Just 24 Hours
This technology is going to benefit a lot of people in need of shelter and also make homes more affordable using a larger scale 3D Printer, Contour Scaling system. In southern California the Khoshnevis robot system is being tested. Late last year I watched a documentary about the development of this technology that can also be applied to building habitats on the Moon and on Mars; small scale tests have already been done successfully on terrar firma. The Khoshenvis robot is a large scale system but it's design is minimal considering the size of the intended use; 2,500+ sq ft buildings. The system can be made with lighter yet very durable materials for launching into space, landing on the Moon and building literally out of this world habitats.... but Mooner residents better remember not to jump out of their 3D bed and go outside still half-awake to collect the local newspaper or check the mailbox without first putting on a Mooner suit... :P Utilizing local materials (for building structures) in remote locations and on other planets can be integrated into the system, which opens up further potential to reduce costs. The actually design is only limited by ones imagination but of course within practical limits. BTW, Not sure if this specific discussion has been posted before. Hmmm, to be honest I'm not sure what they will officially call moon residents, Mars = Martians is cool but moontians, moonshiners, moonies, loonies? Nah!

Hmm. Assuming the foundations are already in place, I don't actually see 24 hours as being any kind of 'wow'. A team of brickies could have a simple design like that up in about the same time (excluding tea breaks and waiting for the skip ). Plumbing would need to be in place too.

I built a tree house in less than 24 hours. Well, I had a pile of 2x4s, scraps of paneling, a handful of badly bent rusty nails, and a hammer. I also had a hole in the dirt. I ended up using my supplies to shore up the defensive barriers around the hole in the dirt. I couldn't reach the lower branches of the tree, so I rode my bike underneath. I jumped up, caught a branch, and pulled myself up. Hidden behind the sap encrusted branches and pine needles, I was completely invisible. Well, if you didn't pay attention to the pile of rotting lumber scattered around a hole in the ground or the bike laying at the bottom of the ravine, you'd never know I was there. The fact that I exited the tree once the snakes came out is irrelevant. There's also no need to talk about how well I stuck the landing. No. We can also skip over the part where I had to have rubbing alcohol poured over my wounds. There's no need to dwell on that at all. That doesn't change the fact that I managed to accomplish so much in a single day. HTH
