30 minutes without answer (I'm on 8.5 still, so I can't help). But I have to nag cause it's sunday morning and I haven't had my coffee yet :o) You can go to your profile and find every thread you have participated/every post you have written. This lost answer is there somewhere. In 30 minutes you could have written the search word "refresh" or "short cut" in the Help File index five dozen times. Just saying.... Of course, sometimes it really is hard to find what you're looking for, for whatever reason. And then again, we do need forum activity :o)
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Dear Kalle - your response makes several presumptions 1 That I haven't searched the forum for information on this problem 2 That I posted a thread previously re the problem or participated in the relevant thread So go back to your coffee and wake up Good morning to you too

The only thing I know is to go to preferences/audio/driver settings and change your playback settings. Or go to the output bus and change the output. I have never seen a refresh shortcut.

Hi Danny Thanks for the help Yes losing the details of the shortcut is maddening - and it was in an obscure post - just an off the cuff comment at the very end i.e. not easily identified by the thread title- I'm sure I saved it as a favourite and copied the details - if I find it I will post it because it's like a "fix all" Thanks again Best Ed

Hi gswitz Re: Audio Engine I don't think so - the shortcut I came across a good while back - and from what I can remember, was a command, when sonar x was open, which then brought up a dialog box warning that information may be lost if the command was continued So I did not access any of the functions within Sonar x (probably x1 at the time - using x3 producer now) I seem to remember using the command at start up of Sonar I know I'm being ridiculously vague which is another reason its maddening as I knew how important the info was when I came across it - I'm sure I've saved it somewhere I was just hoping that someone might recognise the command from the sketchy details I may just try reinstalling the x3e update and see what that does because I cannot get my head around the silent bus threads - also I know I was able to fix it so easily previously Thanks for your help Best Ed

I am wondering if you were referring to re-profiling - personalizing your settings again, like when you first installed your current Sonar version. You can hold the 'Shift' key when launching Sonar, and I recall correctly it will re-personalize your settings. I saw where you had resolved the issue, but I thought I would take a stab at your original question.
Here is some doc on the Silent Bus: A new Silent Busses Detected dialog warns the user when a project contains buses or tracks that are assigned to the silent "NONE" output destination. The dialog lists all tracks and buses that have outputs or sends that are assigned to "NONE" Typically if there is a discrepancy detected between the port assignments that were saved and the ports that are used in the current configuration, the ports are set to "None" and the Silent Busses Detected dialog warns the user. This can also happen if you change your driver mode and fewer output devices are available in the new mode. Bob Bone

There are two version of the re-personalizing process: - Holding the SHIFT key when launching SONAR will replace files missing in the user directory
- Holding the CTRL and SHIFT keys when launching SONAR will overwrite the files in the user directory and reset parts of the registry .
