***Disappearing Timeline???***

...please bear with me folks,---I know this is probably user ignorance. I just added a digital TV as a second monitor in X2 producer. Everything is fine and I'm thrilled not to be opening and closing things,---but my timeline and the corresponding position marker are gone. The vertical white line and time figures are there,---but no timeline. When I place my mouse on either side of the clip, the edge turns yellow instead of red. There is no double-arrow icon to move the clip, and when I try to move it it stretches or shrinks it. I have no idea where I am or how to get out,---could someone please show me the door......    Thank you in advance!
