Comping question

Is there a way of manually altering the auto splits created across take lanes when highlighting a region of the wave file?

I love the way comping works in principle but there are some niggles that bug me. For example of the singer says a particularly expressive word in one of the takes there is no way of cross fading (whilst making sure you catch the end of the word) it with another take that starts the following word before the expressive one has ended.

The only way I seem to be able to achieve this at the moment is to drag regions from the take lanes onto a completely new audio track.

It would be great if there was a way of manually editing the auto splits made such as control drag or something but I can't get it to work unless I'm doing something wrong?

You can still do this when you collapse the lanes and are working on just the track. You can also see if the "move audio within clip" feature works for what you need.

There are a lot of good ideas for editing using lanes here:

You can search within this thread for my name as I provide some details on ways I found to work with exactly your situation. There are other good ideas posted by other users as well, so it is worth reading the whole thing. You can do pretty much anything you want, but not always in the most obvious way..

Incidentally, you can take the /m out of the URL to get the non-mobile version of the page.

Good catch.  That was my intent.  I edited my post to use the non-mobile link.

There is a way to do this, as I just found out.  You need to use the edit tool instead of the smart tool.  See my post here:
