Buying X3, is it X3d?
I am about to purchase X3. My assumption that it is the latest version/build, X3d. Is that right? Thanks, Tom

No, the download version is X3a, and the boxed version is X3.
Once installed, you'll need to download and install the X3d update.
HTH.
Also, make sure to run installer as administrator. Some people have also found that they need to disable their virus checker whilst installing, too.
Have fun, X3 is a blast.

A couple more questions then: 1) Can I go straight from X3a to X3d? 2) How do I ensure that I am running the install as Administrator? Thanks Tom

1 - Yes, it is a cumulative update.
2 - Right click on installer icon and choose "Run as administrator". Your user account will need to have administrator privileges, too,

You can download the update from Cake site, on the X3 support page.

One small point Tom - please don't think that buying X3 gets you Producer. X3 replaces the old Essentials version, so we have X3, X3 Studio & X3 Producer. You probably already know this but it has caught a couple of people out. Best to know up front what you're buying yes?
