My second public post.

As no one has picked my first post to pieces I guess it must be reasonable, so here is another cover. This time a cover of the Big Os' Pretty Woman.
Feel free to pick it to pieces, really...I am still feeling my way though this.

Not too much to pick at here Wal, sounds clear and clean. Excellent vocal, you have a good range like the man himself. The drums are a little 'small' perhaps, but overall it's a very good cover.

Wow.  Very nice.  Great vocal!  That's not an easy song to sing.  I dig that sound man.  Good mix.

This is one of my all time favorite songs, and I wish that I could sing it like you do, or I would have covered this a long time ago.  Your performances are spot on.  The drums in the original aren't big either, so this has a very authentic sound, to my ears.  Congratulations!

    All the best,

Thanks guys. Can't claim credit for the vocals. Way out of my range, though everything else except drums and keys is me. I did try to follow the original feel and sound, but I'm still a novice at this.

Olemon, just the usual suite of CW plus True Piano for the keys.

You guys have given me confidence so I will post some more.

    Cheers.

    Optimus,

Really nice cover, I think it sounds great.  Might boost the piano just a hair but really well done.

Good job on this! Very nice acoustic guitar.

LOVED Guitars and Cadillacs!! Is that a Telecaster? R U mixing it or going line-in?

R U playing all the instruments?

I agree with an earlier post: drums sound a little small. I would LOVE to hear it remixed (or even re-recorded) with more richness, presence and clarity and more hard panning. I bet over the radio it would sound PERFECT the way it is!

Thanks guys for the feedback. My confidence is growing.

krsongs: All electric guitars are played through a Fender Blues junior with a pedal board and are  tele and strat on Guitars and Cadillacs. Acoustics guitars on Pretty Woman are miked. The middle tremolo part of PW is a strat through a Fender Vibroverb. All guitars and bass on PW were done by me. Guitars on G&C were done by real guitar players, not amateurs like me.
I was thinking of revisiting PW to tweak things a little anyway. You guys have confirmed it for me.

Mercy, that's a good recording. Well played and sung, I think the best part about this song is the way everything sat so well in the mix. I agree with the comments re the drums, they are a little too light and tight. Listening to the original there was lots of fullness and depth, and natural(room) reverb. Not that you shouldn't put your own spin on the song. Roy would be proud I think, keep up the good work.

I had a listen to the original Big O recording of PW and that snare is big and loose. I think it sounds like there were two drummers hitting that snare.
My drums were recorded using an Roland electronic kit via midi and Session Drummer plug in, so never going to get that sound. Anyways, made some tweeks and I think its a little better now - I hope.
Anyway thanks for the nice words.

Really nice job on this old song. It's funny, a band I was in years ago, we did this song, but with a more upbeat performance than this, but you did a good job with this one all around. Nice vocals too!!
