Patch Names for the Roland XP-80 Expansion Boards

My version of SONAR X1 Studio came with all of the ins files for my XP-80. The only problem is that the expansion boards have only numbers identifying the patches. Does anyone know how I can get the actual names into the instrument definitions? As you can see in this image, I have all four expansion cards showing up on the left, but on the lower right instead of the identifying numbers (10368,10369, etc.), each XP-A1, XP-A2, etc. is preceded not by a number but by "Rthm."  Does this give you a clue as to what the problem is mand how I might fix it so that the patch names show when I have any one of the 8 banks selected?

Thanks!
John

You have to manually edit the patches to add the patch names in the INS file. If you can find and INS file for the older JV expansion boards, you can probably get a pretty good idea of how to edit the files from looking at one of those. You do not need to edit these in Sonar. Any text editor will do.

The most difficult part is adding the patch/group switching commands for your specific keyboard. You'll need to refer to the Midi Implementation chart that came with your keyboard to determine what the commands are.

I'll be honest, it's a pain to do, but well worth it when you are searching for patches.

Leizer - wow - thanks for that!

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.
