Hi, So weird ... folks still looking for Godot out there, instead of just putting up their own site and sell their stuff. Oh well, maybe I'm the one that is wrong! AND, it would be tax deductable, if you ever talked to an accountant!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

Nope no problem here. Two links down in my signature. Soundcloud is working fine although I only have one song up and don't use it that much. Sometimes they may be working on it or something but it just worked fine. 3:53 CST. How did I end up with post #1 on this forum though, just answering this thread about Soundcloud. ?? Got me baffled now about this Cakewalk forum!

For myself, accessing it from my android is excruciating. It's fine from a desktop or laptop.

Huh, must have hit the post button up on top where the Essential or Full Version is listed in blue on the right hand side on this forum somehow. Now the posts are going down again up there with Full or Essential version of this forum ?? For Soundcloud though, do you have cookies enabled, they go by cookies???

For a media hosting website that's dedicated to audio, the audio quality is terrible. Streaming rate is a paltry 128kbps (MP3). Upload your stuff to YouTube instead. Provided you upload in HD, the stream rate is 192kbps. Plus it's AAC encoding which is superior to MP3. On top of this, your potential audience is thousands of times larger.

You know, I have thought about switching to You Tube myself, but I could never quite figure out from first glance how to load up audio. I seem to remember seeing where to load a video, but not the audio. Do you have to install a video or picture first before the audio? Dumb questions I know, it is probably something obvious that I was missing.

The Coffee House Band's website uploads 320kbps mp3's. Of course we had to get the domain, host it and build it to our own specifications.

I sensed you would say that, but that's what makes it 20-40% better, ya?

You have to create a video and add your audio as the soundtrack. It's actually very easy to do with the free Windows Movie Maker http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker You don't have to create a video, you can just use a still image. Then you add the song as a soundtrack. I think it's pretty straight forward to work out how to do it within WMM, although there are plenty of instructions online. Just make sure you do everything at the highest quality so that you end up with a 1080p video (actually I think you get the best YouTube audio quality at 720p or higher although I'm not 100% on this).

I signed up with Bandzoogle for my website, very easy to use and edit. Can upload 320kbps MP3's and I got my own '.com' included.

Are there any free music hosting sites that actually play/stream wave files?

None that we could find back when we created our website. If they exist they have to operate on the premise that each song is typically 5 times larger storage for a .wav vs. a .mp3 (even more if you factor in a 128kbps mp3).
