Chopped Samples X3

Ok I chopped some samples, is there anyway I can assign them to my midi piano keys( Easier way to play them during song). They are all .wav and I chopped them on another program.

Hmmmm.  If they were chopped in recycle you could export as a REX file and dim pro or dropzone would map the slices across keys. The only ways I can think of offhand to do that within Sonar without third party plugin are:

1)create an sfz file, mapping the slices and import into Dim Pro
2)Import the slices and then assign each in matrix view.  the cells can be mapped to keyboard

Neither is intuitive or simple.  In fact, It may be quicker to download a third party sampler that can do that more easily.  I use Geist for such things but there are plenty of other programs.  Before Geist, I used to do exactly what you are trying to do within the freebie sampler short circuit.   It's only 32 bit .  Another free option is http://www.tx16wx.com/
It's a sampler.  Not crazy about interface but it seems stable now

BTW, if you simply have one hit drum samples from a loop, you can just drag those into Session Drummer.  This is mostly useless on non-percussive samples.  There is a tutorial vid on how to do that with audio snap: http://cakewalk.com/CakeTV/SONARU.aspx/Go-Deeper

Seems to me in one of the webinars they put samples into Matrix cells and used MIDI learn to assign them to the keyboard for triggering. Maybe that would work for you. I've been meaning to try it but you know how it goes ...

I tried that once.  May try again. It was far more work to setup for me than it seemed worth at the time but maybe it was a bad day.  Matrix works well with loops but was not really meant to use chopped samples MPC style (which I am guessing might be the OP's intent).  I'm not sure many people outside of product reps creating demos sequence songs by laying down layers of loops in that manner.  Maybe back in the heyday of Acid and ejay that had some popularity among noobs.  Ecen people using loop based production tend to manipulate the loops a lot more than Matrx provides.  I'm still thinking Matrix can have some use but every time I go to use it there seems to be a better way.  I'm waiting for someone to post a tutorial creating something that does not sound like a stock Matrix demo.

Yea I had that figured out, trying to find way to play my samples now. The smallest tasks become long.

Unfortunately, one of thre few things not included in Sonar is a dedicated sampler for these type of things.  They have included samplers in the past but they disappeared.  For all we know they may have a deal in the works with a third party to be included next version or they may have figured that Kontact has such a large lead in that area that it may not be worth the development costs for a losing battle.  In any case, I do recommend you give the geist demo a try:

It's not your sampling solution for creating orchestral instruments but for chopping loops and manipulating them quickly it is amazing

+1 for trying the Geist demo. It was on sale last month for $99, and I am not sure how often their sales cycle, but it is a very powerful program unto itself.

Bump with researching and time. You can use AudioSnap to chop the sample and then apply the trim. Then Drag the sample to SessionDrummer to be played on your midi.

Ermahgerd Geist is amazing. There simply aren't enough hours in the day! Well worth waiting for it to go on sale again.

Cyclone is still bundled with Studio and Producer. It offers a little more control than Session Drummer.

I often forget about cyclone.  I never quite got into it, but it definitely has more to offer in that area than session drummer
