Mackie mcu pro unit and c4 pro

I will do a simple question and i hope someone can answer . 
 
Can i use mcu pro (with c4) to control vst instruments with sonar?
I not refering to vst plugins but to vsti's. 
I read the manual and theres no reference to instruments use. 
I've seen the layer for sonar and there isn't instrument buttons.
The instrument button on mackie is covered by compressor with sonar lexan layer.
I've read some posts saying that mackie control instruments on sonar.
Can someone tell me how?
