Midi Metronome Setup..

seems to be a bug with using audio metronome with Maschine.. so I need to set up Midi Metronome.. if somebody help supplement the guide below? I have RTFM..   Midi has always befuddled me, I'm fine with Audio tracks.. Usually when I set up an midi instrument I save it as track template and just use it from there..

Select a track in the Track view that is assigned to the MIDI device you want to use for the metronome sound.
should I simply just use my Microsoft GS WAvetable (I use MOTU, and don't use Wavetable for anything)

Select a track in the Track view that is assigned to the MIDI device you want to use for the metronome sound.
a bit lost here..

Make sure that the settings in the Port and Channel fields match those for the track in the Track view.
still lost

Right-click the Playback Metronome on/off button  or Record Metronome on/off button  to show metronome settings.  ez enough

Play a note on your MIDI instrument. The note number is entered automatically. The velocity is not updated.
what If I'm just using GS wavetable.. do I need a midi keyboard to trigger?

Thanks in advance.

Why is there a "bug".? The audio metronome should work. They are just Wav. files and take very little CPU effort or memory.  Oh I see,,Sonar 6.. sorry, dunno,  might have been a bug  way, way back then. That's why there are upgrades to new versions.

I have to say, those are some pretty strange instructions. You don't need to have a track pointing to the MIDI device to set up the MIDI metronome. But you do need a decent quality hardware synth to generate the sound with an audio track to echo it's output through SONAR if it's not direct-monitored. Your wavetable synth is probably not going to cut it because the latency is going to be too high. And I don't think you can use a soft synth without jumping through some hoops.

I recommend you just set up a MIDI track with notes on quarter note beats to drive a drum synth's side/cross stick. A MIDI groove clip will make it easy to drag out to the length of the project.
