stupid theme song stuck in my head....
I was watching tv the other day and nothing much was on so I landed on a re-run of the Patty Duke show. The theme song was playing and now I can't get it out of my head !!! ARRRRRRGGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It plays over and over again...it won't stop !!! Should I double up on my meds ???? This sucks !!!!!!!!

Instead of fighting it, you could always record your very own version of it (now that you know it so well)

OH man, I hate that. My wife does that to me all the time. In fact I scrolled through this thread without reading anything for fear of some tune getting in my head before bedtime. Thankfully, I do not remember the theme from the Patty Duke Show... though I am old enough.

I've heard that the best way to get a tune to stop running in your head is to force it to finish. Then quickly replace it with another song you like. That said, I used to work at a place where this one manager could not stand the song Copacabana by Barry Manilow and he made the mistake of mentioning that it would get stuck in his head and drive him crazy. Needless to say, being the sympathetic guys that we were  , we'd occasionally text him with "Her name was Lola..." right as he was walking into a meeting. A couple of times there was a pause then we could hear "Arrrrrgh!!!" coming from the conference room! 
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

I used to hate the song "Dance The Night Away" by the Mavericks, which seemed to on every playlist at one time. At our wedding reception I instructed the DJ to leave this one out, otherwise it would have spoilt my day.

I've had a video game theme music stuck in my head for almost 30 years. I whistle it all the time. A couple of years ago I looked it up on YouTube and was surprised to find that I was still whistling it in the right key.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this annoying psychological quirk. The dumber the song, the more persistent it is. Here's one you've probably never heard, but that's been victimizing me every morning for the past three weeks... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUuQthbCVS8&src_vid=LRaUdKy0sQ0&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_587749513 Apparently it's a popular song by some Spice Girl-type girl group, but I'd not heard it before it was adapted as the theme for a Filipino comedy. They plug the movie every morning when we turn on the Filipino news to see what's happening over on the islands. It immediately goes into auto-replay in my head all through breakfast.

Yes, ****e Girls should be avoided at all costs!  For some reason I had the chorus to the song Terminal City by Machines of Loving Grace running through my head as I went to sleep last night but, the second I woke up this morning, it was STILL looping!  Where's the damn STOP button??!

This one still goes through my head, even though I had not heard it since the 1960's (until now): Vince Hill - 'Day At The Seaside'Apparently it was written for the Eurovision Song Contest. When I listen to it now, I see that it's quite cleverly constructed. Still annoying though.
