Dimension Pro 64 Crash in X3 64

Pardon me if this has been asked and answered. I searched but could not find a related post.

I just had Dim Pro 64 crash X3 Studio 64. I had 2 instances of Dim Pro both loaded with the Inside the Piano patch, along with an instance of Kontakt and Alchemy. Everything was fine until I recorded the second part of a track on one of the Dim Pro instances. Then X3 went nutz! Hitting spacebar disabled track controls instead of starting playback. The end result was a CTD. Weird thing is that if I deleted the last recorded clip, Sonar behaved itself. Re-recording the clip from scratch caused a CTD, every time.

What I eventually did was delete both Dim Pros, re-add them and remap the tracks. The only thing I may have done differently this time is to disable MIDI output when adding Dim Pro. So far, everything is fine again.

Anyone have a similar experience? Ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

    UPDATE:
I've been unable to resolve the issue as it keeps recurring. Now DimPro 64 will not load at all. So I've removed the 64 bit DLL and loaded the 32 bit version in Sonar. So far its working. Let's see if it continues.

Anyone else see the same thing?

Well, everything is fine as long as I use the 32-bit version. Here's the result:

I really like the Inside the Piano patch and have been looking to use it in something for a long time. I finally just sat down one Thursday evening and came up with the sketch for this. Inside the Piano is used on the ostinato pattern and the melody line.

I was just going through each program in dimpro and then suddenly whamm! Sonar X3d Prod crashed, DimPro caused an access violation...

I tried to reproduce it again but haven't been able to - seems it was a once off...

Strange thing is I couldn't find the process dump, though did find this in event viewer..

That error log is very similar to mine the key entry being the faulting module is Dim Pro 64. Although in my case I was able to reproduce it every time Sonar did not CTD but didn't work properly. I haven't had any issues since going to the 32 but version of Dim Pro.

I kind of suspect in my case the Anti-Virus Software (McAfee) may have had a lock on the dll at the time and could have caused the access violation to occur, sonar probably can't handle the this sort of exception or could have timed out waiting and bombed out...

BTW what do you mean by CTD, what does it stand for?

CTD - Crash To Desktop. I'm a programmer. I tend to speak in acronyms :-)

    UPDATE:
New system = no problems. Must've been something on the old PC. I'm running only 64 bit VSTs (if a vendor has one available) and everything is running smooth as silk.

I would try bouncing your Kontakt and Alchemy midi tracks to waves and I think Dimension should be fine. I usually do that with instruments that are not native to Cakewalk so later down the road if I don't have a 3rd party instrument on-board my songs will still play.

I rely heavily on Dimension sounds and have never had it crash so this really surprises me.

Just a suggestion for a work around...

Just noticed your update glad you fixed it :)

Thanks for the hints RexRed. I do think it was in part do to the prior system. I was pushing the limits of what it was capable of. Maybe anyway.
