Melodyne question

Is it possible to extract a single track drum loop using melodyne with all the hits separataed so you can export to midi?  I have tried but I just get all the hits in one line.  Even then they aren't well separated probably because they are on one track.

Have you set the mode to polyphonic?

FWIW if all the drums are on one track it will be difficult to separate out the the hits.

What I've done in that case is copy the track at least twice (one for kick and one for snare) then I eq the copies track to get only that piece then I bounce to track/clip so that the track is now *mostly* kick or snare. Then I would apply the melodyne region FX to that clip and then move that audio track to a MIDI track (assuming you have X3 with integrated Melodyne). Then I'd clean up the MIDI track to a) move the hits to the proper MIDI note value and remove any stray hits.

This process is not 100% perfect but unless you have either Drumagog or Steve Slate's Trigger it's close.

I use Drumagog or Trigger to solve these type of problems for me. YMMV.

Do trigger and drumagog export to midi with GM or some other mapping?
