[Solved] Melodyne Trial Help
First of all, I'm using the Melodyne 30 day Trial and should probably ask this on their site. But since so many of you guys are using it here you may have some insight into my situation. The Trial is supposed to be fully functioning without any restructions, so I gess that means it should behave just like the real thing. It works stand alone and as a plugin. When I open Melodyne either way and load a wave file, that is as far as I seem to get. All I am able to do is play the file. 1st, the wave is gray, not orange and yellow as so often pictured. 2nd, I click around with right and left buttons but nothing happens. 3rd, I don't see any tools and most of the menu options are grayed out. I am trying to use the tutorial videos and online manual but to me they seem either abstract and unhelpful or else they go right into functions I can't use, which is all of them. Btw, my connection speed is slow which makes stopping and starting the videos painfully slow. Thanks for any help you may be able to give. Trial Steve

That just comes across as "very odd" and cannot think of a quick reason. I would recommend emailing them directly and asking them (support (at) celemony.com). They have been very quick to respond to questions I have sent them.

Perhaps you need to activate a demo license first?

I don't have the answers, but just suggestions which may or may not apply.... From what I recall reading somewhere, the melodyne trial version requires connection to the www when using it. IS your DAW connected ? Is the trial version a "full" version ? The essential version (as included with X3) doesn't have all the functionality of editor version, though as I understand it, the software you get is the same file and its your authorisation code that determines whch version you get access to.

When I go to Help -> License, nothing happens. In fact, all attempts to use the Help "on line" links result in "Page Not Found". I think I got a dud. Guess a call to Celemony Monday to find out what's going on.

Steve, quick check... Paulo is onto something in his post above, it sounds like your Melodyne is disabled. Their trial page does specifically state "To register the trial version and each time the program is launched, an Internet connection is necessary. The trial period can only be enjoyed once on each computer." If you are connected to the internet with your DAW, the only other option to try is simply re-install the program over top of existing one quick and see if that helps.

Celemony sent me some sketchy instructions to fix the problem. I was able to decipher them and came up with step by step instructions necessary to activate the Trial. I am giving them away here for free for 30 days for anyone else who may need them: For Windows 7 systems 1. Right click "Computer" and go to "Properties" 2. Click "Advanced" 3. Click "Advanced system settings" 4. Click "Advanced" tab 5. Click "Performance" "Settings..." button 6. Click "Data Execution Prevention" tab 7. Select "Turn on DEP... except those I select:" 8. Click "Add..." button 9. Navigate to "C:\ProgramData\Celemony Software GmbH" 10. Open "Licenser" folder 11. Double click "Melodyne singletrack Licenser.exe" 12. Click OK 13. Click OK 14. Close all windows 15. Launch Melodyne 16. When Activation window opens select an activation option Now Melodyne fully opens and operates as it should have in the first place. Why these instructions aren't included in the box is beyond me. As pricey as this software is, we're not off to a very impressive start. Though I'm sure that will change as I start using it.

Thanks for your persistence. Hopefully Celemony will do what you suggest.

Seems weird, the non-trial version worked for me right off the bat.

I didn't have to do any of that either with the included version or the upgrade to editor. Must be something to do with the trial version requiring a www connection each time you use it I guess.

In my case the connection was fine. The install was failing to complete itself so that Melodyne could actually make the connection. Their first suggestion was to "Run as administrator" which made no difference. Interestingly, I've never ever had to use that right-click feature for anything... ever. >>Thanks for your persistence. Hopefully Celemony will do what you suggest.<< I sent them a free 30 day copy of the list as well, Craig. At least they could post it on their site or something if they want to. How I'm going to make them give it back after 30 days is beyond me though.
