Two consecutive days with a new DAW and SONAR X3d
After two full days tracking (and on the go mixing) without a single glitch or crash. Very happy with this setup!!! The only thing thing (strangely) is that X3d takes about 10 second to start playing after opening an existing project for the first time. Isn't Sonar suppose to start playing even when it is drawing the pictures for the project? I don't fell this is a problem but I never felt this before...

Does it take that long to open the same or any other project once it does load? I don't think it's a problem but when I open a project for the first time it takes almost 15-20 seconds for the project to load and be ready to play. After the first one has opened, I can close it and anything I open from then on out loads within 5 seconds. It's almost like Sonar has to locate that first project to find everything else in the rest of the projects. Kind of strange but not a deal breaker.

Hm I think this would have more to do with the individual plugins in your projects than SONAR. I don't see this lag when opening projects. Perhaps some plugin is causing a delay by doing something expensive the first time audio is streamed through it - checking licences or something...

I have some projects that take some time to load, but when they do, hitting Enter or clicking on Play starts them up right away, no matter if it is the first project or the 10th for that session of Sonar. Can you please list all of the plugins present in one of these projects that exhibit this delayed playback behavior? Thanks, I am quite curious. Bob Bone

Noel, I don't think it is plugin related. Note that this ONLY happens the first time I open an existing project (from old DAW) in this new DAW. After saving the first time…it opens very quickly the next time... I will investigate this further but I think it is related to wav drawing…I will also more the picture cache folder from the audio drive to another hard drive... Hello all,, I also found it long to load large long 2 hr projects.(No plug ins used except Sonar defaults)..But that is with system setup issues. Since finding and sorting out the system problems as I find them...Yep it takes time to load up large project files.. I found if I close the project and Sonar, and reopen without rebooting the system...Sonar loads it faster the next time around., almost instantly.., and if I boot up, and reopen that file, it takes time all over again..(win indexing?)..Again I am finding more and more system issues, and solving them...As I go backwards and forwards,... So take this with a grain of salt and lightly pepper to taste. I see Sonar is Drawing in the wav files slowly when this happens...and notated this also in another thread.
