SONAR 8.5 won't record "new over old " material, just blends it together

SONAR 8.5 won't record "new over old " material, just blends it together

Can anybody help me out here.  I use 8.5 producer- I generally work with audio files, In Global options I have "editing" set to record new over old. That's how I always have it, and never had a problem.  Lately when I try to re-record over an existing track -it just blends it and layers it.  It's not set to do that- but it does it anyway.  It's bugging the #$#@ out of me.  Tried everything.  Doesn't do it on some projects , just the latest two. Any thing I could have changed ? I reloaded default configurations, nothing is working.

    Solved.  There is another box on the transport that allows "Recording Options." Somehow "sound on sound" was selected instead of "overwrite" .  Options/Global /Editing "New over old" was correct , but don't forget the "recording options" box on the transport.  If this option was located somewhere else, I am not sure,  but that's where I found it.

     a pet peeve of mine is that the default is to sound on sound, who on earth would want that option? I sure hope they have changed that with newer versions....
