other uses for Sonar....
So yesterday was a particularly hectic day in the home office. Instant messages every 5 minutes and my soft phone ringing off the hook. The ringers and alerts in my company's messenger and soft phone are brutal. They are harsh and irritating and set my teeth on edge. And there are no options in these programs like on a cell phone to change them.
So I thought, I bet I could do better with a Soft synth and make my own wave files.
Now when Cisco Webex IM calls me, I hear a Tassman4 synth harp with a long relaxing strum. When my Avaya soft phone rings I hear a kind of tubular bells thing.....awesome. (Trick - if you need to get a very small wav file for a program (like avaya 1X as an example), export wav from Sonar as mono and turn sample rate down to 11K (lowest in sonar) and you will get a 80 to 130 K wav. Some programs seem to choke on 1M ring tones)
Today I am going to make my own dial tone and DTMF tones.....
You probably all know this already, but it was a small change thanks to Sonar and Tassman4 that is really making a difference in my stress levels.
Other than that things are going well, thanks for asking.
