MIDI misstep - not recording

What setting am I missing? - if a synth is showing it's response on the meter, but the notes are not recording on the track (and I am hearing it in my phones).

    That's not really enough info..... Are you entering notes with a Wiji board or a keyboard ,,,that kinda stuff would be useful...

    Auto punch range enabled somewhere else?

    Brundlefly got it ! The auto punch was enabled and the very beginning and I have to recollection of how that got there - but taking it off solved the problem....... thanks !
