piano
I opened a bundle I'd started about 5 years ago. I was using Edirol VSC 2 for my piano. I don't see it in my Sonar X1. Does anyone know if it's there and I overlooked it? I suppose I could assign the midi info to another piano track if I cant find Edirol. Therefor, my second option would be that. Is there a decent piano in Sonar x1? Thanks David

TruePianos (Amber) is included with Sonar, at least with Sonar Producer. It's an excellent piano.
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

The Edirol VSC 2 is not included with X1. Maybe TTS-1 will work for you. Alternately, depending on the version of SONAR Cakewalk Sound Center, Dimension Pro and TruePiano may be available.

I just bought Addictive keys. I have Native Instruments Komplete and I think this is better. Check out the Dimension Pro or True Pianos otherwise...

I don't like some of the ringing in the grand, personally. Really liking Alicia's Keys at the moment.
But TruePianos is pretty decent, if you have it, go with that!

I am a pianist by training and own several vst pianos. I hope my 2 cents can be of help. The True piano (Amber module) is probably the best piano in Sonar. If you are happy with it then use it. If you are interested in something better, Sonar 8.5 to X3 PE users can get contact truepiano.com and upgrade for 20% off to the full version, which give you 4 more piano modules. My favorite are Atlantic and Diamond, btw Amber module is my least favorite. You can also visit XLN to try out a free 4 octave version of their piano. Occasional http://www.musiciansfriend.com/ do offer AD piano for $29. This offer is for those who live in USA only. Dim Pro piano is very limited in it's dynamic range(4 velocity level Max) and it does sound unrealistic at times. My favorite piano vst is Ivory II which includes 3 pianos. The Steinway piano has 18 velocity layers. Another great buy is the Alicia Keys which has 13 velocity layers and has been described as intimate.

Have Synthogy gotten past their iLok love yet? I really like Ivory but have so far managed to avoid needing an iLok (even got Waves after they switched).

I have an iLok just for the Ivory. It stays behind my DAW computer at all times. I don't even remember it is there anymore.

Edirol was replaced with TTS. Both sound about the same. They are both synth patched piano sounds. I guess it depends on the version of Cakewalk software that you currently have. If you have something that came with the Cakewalk Sound Center you have a fairly decent piano in that. It's sampled. Plus, if you are like me, not satisfied with the pianos and seeking more variety, Cakewalk sells a $20 add on pack with 10 pianos in it's Steinberg Piano's pack. I use the concert grands quite often. For what they are, what they sound like and what they cost, ($20)..... they are hard to beat as an all around piano for most tunes. They don't sound as good as the specialty ones as several folks above mentioned.... such as Ivory, but then again, they also don't cost nearly as much. If the piano is part of a group, the need for a super clean hi-Q piano can be a bit less. If on the other hand, you are playing a piano solo behind a great singer, yeah, you might want to have Ivory sampling the part for you.

Yeah I can't do that, I frequently bring projects on my laptop. But meh, getting a little off topic here.

I use Truepiano and Aditive keys on my laptop. Use less hard disk space too.

I did like the upgraded truepianos, but now I prefer addictive keys. I think it's a bit closer.
