X3 problems installing download

Hi Guys,

I am new to DAWs  literally. I purchased Sonar X3 producer download on Saturday and it took me three to four days to complete the download. I used Google Chrome and Firefox web browsers to download the files and I disabled my AVG anti virus before downloading the software. I tried to follow the instructions on the cakewalk site to avoid problems but I still encountered one.

After downloading all the files and putting them in a separate folder as advised, there is a failure message that is coming up all the time when the files are being extracted. It reads something to the tune of Corrupted Internal data. File will exit...

I do not know how to go about fixing the problem nor can I determine what is causing it.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Did anyone else have a similar problem and fixed it? I will be grateful for your help, please.

Please advise.

If the problem occurs while the file is extracting, its probable that that particular file has an error and will need to be downloaded again.

If you have a slow download connection that takes days to download those few files, perhaps you'd be better off buying the discs.

On the X3 Producer download instructions page, there are listed MD5 Hash values for verifying the integrity of the downloaded files.

There are zillions of freeware utility programs that will help you check the hash values for the files you downloaded, and you would compare those against the MD5 Hash values found on the page I pasted the link to below.

Please note that you should temporarily suspend your antivirus software during INSTALL, as well, or you can have integrity problems.  In addition, you MUST launch the installer with the EXPLICIT option set to Run As Administrator, which is not the same as logging on to an account that has admin privileges.

Here is the link to the page for X3 Producer:

    I hope the above helps,

I just downloaded X3 studio, It's around 5 Gigs, It comes as 4 parts, They give you 300 minutes. If you don't finish you simply re log on. It took about 3 hours on Shaw's "lite" internet. You sound like your on a dial up! Do like I did and go stay with someone with good internet. At home I only get 3 gigs a month and pay $10 per gig over, it also cuts out occasionally. I knew it wouldn't work at home.
Possibly your internet is also cuting out ,That would explain a contaminated download,,, one split second of off line and your screwed.
I too wanted the actual disks,  but it seems the  "upgrade specials" are download only.

Thank you for taking time to respond. I am not on dial up but yet apparently a slow speed internet. I extracted all the files by Highlighting all parts, right clicking and choosing "Extract Here". So that it was up and running fine and i was able to see the plugins I could not see previously namely SI Strings, Bass and Piano.

I am taking the online course at BErklee Online and I downloaded a file and inserted a synth. I think I did something very wrong. The instructions from the lecturer were to insert the SI Strings which I did not have as a plugin that could have been expanded like the SI Drun Kit and as a result I inserted the Cakewalk Sound Center that I saw..... hmmmmm.

As I reloaded Sonar X3 downloadad and all was going well, I also inserted the SI Strings Synth. In experimenting, I deleted the track with the Cakewalk Sound Center, saved the file, closed it and now that I am reopening it, it cannot find some of the synths. I get an error message saying IDNS Multisample not found.

I looked for the Cakewalk Sound Center folder, found it in C:/Programs(x86)/Cakewalk/Cakewalk Sound Center. The folder however is empty. I tried reinstalling the patch but I am getting a code 5 error.

I previously had Music Creator 5 installed. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening and what I can try to fix it, please. I am at work presently and I hope my explanations make sense because I am not by my computer to tell you what I see. It is all from my memory.

I am struggling to make sense of your environment, and of the precise steps you took during both install of Sonar and in the creation of the project that is having missing project components.

Also, when was Music Creator 5 uninstalled, and how?

On MY system, I have 64-bit Sound Center components at:

    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Cakewalk Sound Center

    And 32-bit ones at:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Cakewalk Sound Center

I have a 32-bit and 64-bit SI String Section plugins that are outside of the Cakewalk Sound Center, at:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\SI-String Section
    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\SI-String Section

So, I am quite confused.  I will try to help you, but I need to better understand:

    1.  Where your SI-String Section stuff is located
    2.  Why you are looking for 32-bit stuff when you have a 64-bit OS?
    3.  Why entire synths seems to be missing - which ones?
    4.  What version of Sonar you have, and is it 32-bit or 64-bit, or do you have both?
    5.  Is it possible some components are common, between Music Creator and Sonar, and that removing Music Creator may have deleted things that would normally be part of Sonar?
    6.  Probably lots more questions, but I need more coffee for them to materialize :)

Please review the above and respond, and add whatever detail you can.  I will certainly do my best to help you, if I can get up to speed.

    HI Bob,

I had to do some caffeine too myself when I was trying to figure it out.  Sorry for the confusion. Well let me start by saying that I am not aware of the 32bit and 64 bit tingy. I know my computer is 64bit but I was unaware of the fact that I was looking for 32bit stuff. lol.

Let me try and answer your questions and I am sorry  again for the confusion  I have brought to your mind. I am very new to the entire concept of DAW. Maybe I have bitten off more than I can chew but I will eat it all anyways......

I will be at my computer in a few hours and will be able to answer the questions accurately when I get to it. I am presently at work.

    I greatly appreciate your help.
