Freeze out..

Started getting bad here S. Arkansas/N. Louisiana yesterday on my way home from work.
Snowed here for about an hour like I haven't seen in the last 12 or so years and this morning everything is ice.

I'm staying home nice and warm...as long as the power stays on.

Stay safe Michael. Just read that the Met Office over here has issued it's first 'red warning' of the winter for winds, expected up to 100MPH later today. What fun.

    Man...you stay safe too James.
It's white here...sure don't see that often. I moved from high mountains to lowlands in 1990 so I enjoy it.
I haven't seen one car on the roads yet. Smart is happening so far.

I had an ice drum kit once.  The cymbals shattered.  That's the last time I buy used music gear from Frosty.

High winds seem to be pretty regular through the winter now, once it gets above an average of 40MPH (gusts up to 80MPH) I start to get nervous..had part of my roof peeled off in the winter of 2010, that wasn't much fun.

We're getting away with it lightly compared to the SW of England though, those folks are really going through it with flooding and constant storms.

Thanks guys. I'm safe and warm. I'm not geared for traveling on ice so it's something I don't do.
Nice to be home and to bad I don't have a guitar build happening.
I may meet with a very hot Texan picker this month. He ran into one of my guitars at a gig and threatened the owner to contact me LOL. I've made a point to let owners know I don't want business generated. After talking with my friend I gave him the Ok to tell the guy I'd meet him and talk about it. He plays Strats and Flying V's. Wants a V and I've been wanting to build one but it's not a guitar I'd play so being that nobody I build for has to take the instrument it could be I'd wind up with a guitar collecting dust...a risk I'd have to consider after meeting him.

    LOL that is great!

High winds are so much fun.  I used to have a house on the top edge of a ridge where the back of the house faced East.  They have this wonderful phenomenon called the "East Wind" and my house took the brunt of it.  The last year I was there (2009) we had a storm with sustained winds clocked at over 80mph by a weather station in the cul-de-sac below me (so it was probably a little stronger even at my elevation).  Who knows what the gusts were!  Lots of damage (I survived much better than most).  Heck, even the street sign on the corner had to be replaced...

This was just the front yard of my other house (where my Mom lived) and she was two miles away from the main edge where I lived (she had two holes in the roof where a 12' limb and a 20' branch went through):

So stay safe and, for those of you in Scotland, you can wait to golf on another day.  Really.

I'm sure it won't collect dust if the guy doesn't want it. Someone will take it.

I always wanted a V, but they suck to play unless you're standing up on stage.  When sitting you can try putting your leg between the V, but it just doesn't work that well.  My biggest stage moment was with a custom black flying V (that, ironically, belonged to the drummer), however the only V I ever owned was this one:

Hopefully Spacey it's letting up by now and  it's headed my way. By tomorrow it should be here. Can't wait. They are calling for 8-12" of snow. I decided to take a day off for tomorrow. At least I won't need to try and go in.

James, hang in there man...you seem to have experienced some of it before. The way those Scots build houses you should have no problems. God willing all will be well after the storm.

    Only -20F here tonight.

Had a nice aurora display last Friday night tho. Caught it walking out the door at work around 11:30pm so didn't have my camera. By the time I got home and grabbed it, it was pretty much over. Friday the 14th is forecast to be a good one too but forecasts are only 50% accurate and I have to be back at work Saturday morning so probably won't get any more pics even if it is a good one.
