How to record audio track from midi tracks without using external audio box such as a motu

I was wondering if I could record an wave or audio track from my midi tracks without going out of the computer and back in again using my motu UltraLite box?

Thank you;

    I would use the internal sound card in my Surface Pro Tablet. How would I direct the sound card signal back into Sonar to record it without exiting the computer? Is there a virtual tool or virtual wiring available or can it be done with sonar?

    I don't understand the exercise. Is this an attempt to use the MS Wavetable synth instead of soft synths, an attempt to record the audio from a soft synth in real-time or something else?

    Your not feeding us much information, what software are you using, If it is Sonar then insert a soft synth like the TTS-1 for GM sounds, No need to go outside the box for midi.

    I was un aware I could use an internal synth for sounds. What is the best that comes with sonar for GM sounds? Thank you.

    After doing the 'insert audio track' we turned the 'echo' on both the midi track and the audio track.  We could test to see it worked by playing the midi track and seeing sound bars in the audio track also.  Then it was able to record the audio right from the midi track.

    Hi TFi - welcome!

    The quickest way to achieve what you want would be to set-up the TTS-1 like the other posters said, then you right click in the MIDI track header area and Freeze > Freeze Synth.  This will create an audio copy of the MIDI part and disable playback of the MIDI.  This also frees up the resource used by the synth during playback.

    Let us know if that accomplishes what you wanted.
