Anyone using Aria player with Garritan products?

I've uninstalled/reinstalled Aria, GPO and IO more times than I care to mention.
I've taken issues I've had with it to the Garritan forum and Garritan support (never got an answer from them).
The first issue was X2 just stopping when loading an existing project that included the Aria player...no hour glass, nothing, just stopped (loading in safe mode without Aria opened fine and adding Aria to a new project worked fine).
One of the members at the Garritan forum suggested deleting the x86 dll file (for some reason the installer insists on installing it on a x64 bit machine). This actually worked for a while but later broke.
After reinstalling (selecting all the suggested default folders the installer wanted except for the samples) in X2 or X3 trial, if I go to browser/insert synth/manage layouts/vsti and select the Aria Player I see the path for the x64 dll file is C:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins (I deleted the x86 dll files because it's the only way it worked before).
When I go to that folder in windows explorer I see it is indeed there but it won't show up in the default menu or any custom menu (.pgl) I make.
I then added the x86 dll file, scanned again and the 32 bit Aria shows up and I can load it fine...however if I close X2 and re-open X2 does the initial problem of stopping when it gets to Aria.
Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on? If you are successfully using Aria with IO or GPO can you tell me the exact way you go about installing (ie what do you do when IO or GPO asks if you want to install Aria and you say no and then it shows you the path where it's going to install Aria etc)
Thanks very much,
Randy

I've had a few screw-ups when updating the Aria player in the past. I now stick to using the Aria player provided by Garritan.

I just let Garritan install the player where it wants and make sure the correct paths are in the Sonar's scan path.

Thanks my friend but that is the player I'm using...so you're saying you put all those samples on your C drive?
I'm using a small SSD for my C drive and would hate to have to store the samples on it.
Anyway, FWIW, just for the hell of it I went to CW prog files to delete the x86 dll to see if my project would load...windows told me it can't because it was being used (with X2 closed). Task Manager showed bitbridge open. I closed it and was able to delete the x86 dll...that said I remember years ago people having issues with bitbridge...I wonder if it could be the culprit?

Me too. I have only used the one for GPO and have not had a problem with it. I do stay with the 64 bit version though.

When you install, make sure that the 32bit VST is installed in a folder that is not scanned by Sonar.

John, can you elaborate on how you "stay with the 64 bit version" please?
Dan, are you saying you do this during installation or you move it afterwards?

Both versions are installed in my 64 bit Cakewalk folder. That is the 32 bit and the 64 bit Aria player. I believe this is the factory default but its been so long I don't recall how I installed it. I do recall one neat thing when the 64 bit version was first installed. On loading a project with the Aria player I was asked if I wanted to use the 64 bit version.

Yessir that is the factory default but having the 32 bit version in the 64 bit folder seemed to be the problem for me.
I have never been asked which version I wanted to use though....hmmm...just out of curiosity are you using something other than bitbridge?

I'm not using Bitbridge or anything else. I'm using 64 bit versions. I have Jbridge but its not installed. The only 32 bit VST that I use is Perfect Space and I have found good 64 bit replacements for it. I try to avoid 32 bit plugins.

Because I have been 64 bit for quite a while now most all my old projects have been updated to 64 bit plugins.

I was looking at your system and it is better spec then mine. Except the graphics that was not listed and should be. We tend to neglect it.

Okay, I added my graphics to my specs, can you tell me how you use the 64 bit version...is it just that the plugin manager asks you?
I wonder if there's a way to force it because when I have the x86 version in the same folder it just automatically loads that without asking.
    Thanks John,
    Randy

Randy, I forget... does the X2 Browser show 32bit and 64bit plugin versions in two different colors?

I'm also unclear what this means - "I wonder if there's a way to force it because when I have the x86 version in the same folder it just automatically loads that without asking."    I always drag VTSi's from the Browser, so I simply drag the 64bit version if both are displayed.

No sir, it just states 32 or 64 bit in parenthesis. If I put the 32 bit dll in the cw VST folder I can see  and use that version but not the 64 bit version (but the 32 bit version won't let X2 open if I close and try to re-open X2).

That's the problem, both are not displayed...only 32 bit.

Dan, are you saying you do this during installation or you move it afterwards?

Been awhile since I last installed, but I have several Garritan libraries, all using Aria, and when I did the installs, the 32bit VST went into a folder in my (x86) tree that is deliberately excluded (by me) from Sonar's VST scan. Only my 64bit folder is scanned, plus 3 or 4 32bit plugins that I have installed to subfolders in the 32bit VST folder.

I've never run into any issues with the Aria player and Sonar. Honestly, not allowing Sonar to scan any 32bit plugins, except those i explicitly add, has probably saved me a lot of headaches.
