[Solved] Sony Sound Forge and Sonar X3 Producer

Is there a way to directly link to my SoundForge from the X3 Menus?

My older Sonar 2.2 had a "Tools" menu and it was a simple click to take a track into SF for editing and then bring it back to Sonar.

    You have to add it manually per the instructions above.  I just had to do it myself.

    Someone showed me this on here and it's helped me infinitely. Search using google instead of using the cakewalk search function.  In the google search function type in "sound forge site:forum.cakewalk.com"

    After action report:

    Tried it to the letter and no joy. The Sound Forge now shows up in the Utilities menu, but nothing happens when selected.

    I looked in the Windows Task Manager and SF was not running.

    I'm missing something apparently?

    I cannot think of a time it has not turned out to be a typo in the registry.
    Here is an export of my registry entry for SF10:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Sound Forge]
    "ExePath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony\\Sound Forge Pro 10.0\\Forge100.exe"
    "MenuText"="&Sound Forge"
    "StatusBarText"="Run Sound Forge"
    "Type"="WaveEditor"

    Yes don't enter it "to the letter" make sure you're entering your actual pathnames from your computer and your version of sound forge.  I'll find mine and post to compare.

    This is what mine looks like.  Your Sound Forge could be located in a different place....?

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Sound Forge]
    "exePath"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony\\Sound Forge Pro 11.0\\forge110.exe"
    "MenuText"="&Sound Forge"
    "StatusBarText"="Run Sound Forge"
    "Type"="WaveEditor"

    You're right. The file extension didn't copy over to regedit.
    It is now opening SF when selected from the X3 Utilities menu,
    EDIT
    All is good with the world. You guys rock!

    No, it opens the selected clip. Failure to load the clip is almost always a typo in the Type field. Make sure Type is set to WaveEditor (exactly no spaces)

    I set mine up using the linked instructions and it works in the expected way; file exports to sound forge and then back into Sonar on save. I also set up Izotope RX the same way.

    Maybe it'd be wise to delete the registry entry completely and start again. Also, I think you might need to do a reboot for the changes to properly take effect (maybe worth trying that first).
