    Soundblend,

Thanks for the link. The program works well. Still using registered dbPoweramp, but looks like a good alternative especially free.

Couldn't locate an mp3 codec in the program directory unless it is unlikely burried in the code, so assume it's working off of LAME. Otherwise it would cost them a licensing fee for every copy from the Frau guys and they would be leveling a $15 charge to pay for the license. Thank merciful Allah for open source LAME.

Advice from a vegetable level lay user. Dll files are either system wide or overriden by the specific program if whatever the dll library file is included in the same folder as the program's .exe file. Then that local dll takes precedence over anything in the windows system directory. Don't know s*** about a Mac.

In the likelyhood MediaHuman is using LAME, download the latest version of the LAME dll and put it in the folder with MHAudioconverter.exe. Will keep the program up to date.

    Great heads up.

I did not see any mp3 codec there as well, so it must be implemented in the program itself.
It works well, and the mp3 files created sound great to my ears.

There is no need for any " mp3 codec " as it's already there, as other codecs as well.
    but thank's for the " head's up " !

Try using it..........., it works perfectly well, and it's a Freeeeebie, cant beat that one.

Got me curious about this. My last info (though maybe dated) was that Fraunhofer was doing a shotgun legal approach on any developer offering an mp3 converter without paying them a fee. This is what forced dbpoweramp to go from freeware to payware.

I know that codecs and other library dll's are often written to the windows system or system32 folders to be accessed by any program needing the file.

You're probably right about LAME though, since the program would have to assume you already have it installed if it doesn't add it to system.. Thought LAME was he only open source encoder. Have a question in to the folks as to what they are using and how they avoid the Fraunhofer penalty.

Will get back for information sake. Only thing that matters is that the program works well, it's free and covers the main converters most any of us need to deal with. Thanks again for posting this. A real gem.

I have been looking in :

    1. c:\windows\system
    2. c:\windows\system32
    3. c:\windows\sysWOW64

Also did a windows search and could not find any Lame encoder anywhere
as of i could notice, so they must have they'r own mp3 encoder i guess !

The software is simple ,it works and sound's good to my ears
and it is free, this should not really turn out to a discussion about mp3 encoder etc.

Important thing is that you get a software that do the job as intended
    and for free.

That said, but of course if you find out anything about the " unknown mp3 encoder "
i would like to know, as the search is already started...

When people convert to another format, the intention is to have a less sized audio file
so the can send it by email etc, with a good enough quality at any format to use it
with a mobile phone or other media.

If we want the best quality, we do use wave file(s) anyway.
