Retrieving patch names from old projects with Rapture 1.0

When opening old projects which contain Rapture 1.0 instances in X3d Producer, Sonar won't recognize the synth instruments with the Rapture V1.22 that is installed. The synth rack shows them as greyed-out. I called support and was informed that this was expected and the only way to reveal the patch names used was to uninstall 1.22 and install 1.0. Obviously the patch names must be contained within the project file. Anyone know a way to extract the patch names without a reinstall of Rapture 1.0?

Thanks!

right click on the project file and open it in a text editor like notepad, then do a search through the code for the patch names.

Thank you for the response. Yes, I've tried this but Rapture patches don't show up in text searches. I'll try looking at the project file in Hex, perhaps I can find a clue there.

Are these Rapture presets saved within Rapture? You can try export the presets within SONAR X3.

Go to Utilities > Cakewalk Plugin Manager

Highlight Rapture from the VSTi category

Under Cakewalk Plug-in Presets select [Export] if it's available.

    Save it to your desktop

Then import this file once you re-install Rapture again.

Thank you for your response. I think you may be misunderstanding what issue I'm attempting to solve.

X3d has Rapture 1.22 installed. When I open an old project that used Rapture 1.0, Sonar informs me that Rapture is missing (because it doesn't recognize Rapture 1.22 as being the correct plugin to open Rapture 1.0 patches.) The synth rack greys-out the instances of Rapture 1.0 and I have no way of knowing which Rapture patches it was attempting to open. I understand that Rapture 1.0 and Rapture 1.22 can't exist simultaneously on the same system. I just want a way to see what patches were being used so I can create new instances of Rapture 1.22 and load the correct patches. I really don't want to uninstall 1.22, reinstall 1.0, get the patch names, re-install 1.22. (Especially if I have to do this for any other projects in the future.)

    Thanks

It is really Rapture 1.0 or the DXi version of Rapture that is missing? If it is the DXi version, it is possible to have both the DXi and current VST versions of Rapture installed. It would require removal of the current Rapture,  installing the old version (authenticate using the original credentials) and patching with the files from the Rapture support page. Then re-install the add on libraries.

If you have custom samples and programs, create a copy of the current Rapture, both the "Program Files" and ProgramData directories before uninstall. Then re-integrate the files after the re-install.

I suspect that in your old projects you were using the the DXi version of Rapture rather than the VSTi version.  The DXi has unfortunately been discontinued.

Scook beat me to it and also provided some useful additional advice.

Yeah, if the safety copy of the current install is made, there is no need to worry about re-installing the add on libraries; use the safety copy instead.

Also make sure to clean up the registry after the uninstall and before the re-install.

Thank you for your responses. What you are saying makes sense. I was hoping for a solution to discover the patch names without installing and re-installing but what you propose is a one time solution, so it may be the next best thing. Thank you both for your help.
