Sonar w/Keyboard & Sustain Pedal

Hello;

Last night I was trying to record my Nektar LX61 controller using a latch cable pedal as a piano sustain.  It sounded OK while laying the track down but it didn't come out right on the playback.  Is there a special way I need to configure Sonar to use a sustain pedal?

Thanks

John B

    Maybe not. Which version of SONAR? Any particular plug-in?

    ...using a latch cable pedal as a piano sustain.

    With the right technique, this could be made to work after a fashion, but normally you would want something with a momentary non-latching switch. With a latching switch, you'd have to pedal twice for each change in state. And understand that it's the keyboard that actually generates the MIDI message; switch closed causes the keyboard to send CC64 = 127 (down), and switch open sends CC64=0.

    So the first thing to do would be to check the Event List in SONAR, and see if the messages are being recorded as expected.

    I'm sorry, but I accidentally misinformed you guys.  It wasn't the piano I wanted sustain in (I use Toontrack EZ Keys BTW), but it was the Native Instruments Session Strings ensemble.  I didn't get to try it with the piano (yet) but it might work with that.  I was trying to sustain a string chord.  It sounded great in the monitor but the playback got messed up.  I know it's a configuration issue between the Nektar, the instrument app and the host app.  Was hoping somebody here could help.

    OK.  I DID try using the sustain pedal on my Nektar in Sonar using the EZ Keys piano plugin.  It DOES sustain notes on the recording and lists the command as CC64.  So I guess my issue is with the Kontakt Player in Session Strings.  I probably need to configure that differently.  Thanks for your help.
