Process Midi FXs
I have tried to get the CW midi fxs to audition while I adjust the settings but I am not getting any sound. Tried on two different machines with the same results on both. Also tried all CW midi fxs. Anyone else getting this? X3d on: Win 7 Win 8.1

When you make the adjustment, are you starting the track from the beginning? The preview only lasts for a bar IIRC, so you need to have the cursor at a point where there is a bar of midi data. When starting from the beginning (or at a point where the edited part has no data) there is usually a bar of silence, and/or the part you are editing does not actually start for several bars.

Thanks for the reply Joden. There is data being read, notes to be heard, I can see the Now Time line going past the notes. Lets try this; Start Dim Pro. Insert the pre-pakaged MIDI scale (Media/Midi Library/Scales/Pick one) on the Dim Pro Midi Trk Select the clip. Right Click and choose Process FX/Midi FX/Cakewalk FX/ Transpose Then Set the Transpose Method to: Interval and Offset to 5. Now press Audition. Can you hear it? I can't. On two different machines. But if you move the FX window out the way, you can clearly see that the fx is being applied to the clip. It's just not auditioning. I've tried all the CW Midi FX and they behave this way. Anyone else?

Try increasing you MIDI Prepare Using buffer to 500ms if it's still at the lower X-series default of 250.

B-fly, that didn't help the "Audition" with the CW midi FX. But it did solve a problem when I had the clipped looped and during playback not all notes would play. I remember reading about that "bug" and wondered if anyone had tried raising the midi playback buffers?

I noticed you're signature says you're on X2a. I just tried it there, and got no sound. Thought maybe something was fixed in X3, but your first post says X3d, so I'm not sure. Maybe some other preference has a bearing. I'd recommend you just put the MFX in the FX bin, get it doing what you want during playback, and then bounce it (if necessary). But I think there's still an issue with looping and MFX that causes some of the next measure after the loop point to be included in the playback so beware of that.

I've encountered the same issue in X3(d) and reported to CW via Problem Reporter but was told it's unreproducible and to contact tech support. My further investigation discovered that if I use a project template that I created from the Blank project template the audition works fine, but if I use the Normal project template in X3 (which I did state in my report btw) it plays no sound. The issue is not reproducible with the Normal project templates in both X1 and X2 (note that I've been an Essential/Base version user so my Normal project templates might not be exactly the same as yours).

B-fly, I'm on X3d in both machines. Gotta update sig. I still have X2 on my music box. Will see if it works there. Jlien, I will have to look into this. Interesting..... [edit] Now that I think about it, I am using the normal template. Will have to check this out Jlien when I get home.
