Newbie: Sonar X1 LE + Roland Quad Capture: Echo in playback

I just bought the Quad Capture and it came with Sonar X1 LE.  I tried out this combination on this machine as a rental and it worked great, but with the purchased hardware I can't seem to get rid of the echo when I turn the MIX dial towards "playback", and I don't know how to shut it off.

I have the "Input Echo" off in Sonar (if I turn it on, the reverb is CRAZY) and no plug-ins or anything installed.  I'm running Windows 7.

I have been trying for several hours to figure out where it's coming from but with no luck. Any idea what might be causing it?

Perhaps not enough info. But are you using ASIO drivers that came with the Roland? If you are talking about recording while listening to a previously recorded track, then that is called latency and is caused by the drivers (usually Windows drivers) instead of using ASIO drivers which account for that while recording and playing back.

While tracking you turn the blend control to the middle so you can hear your input blended with the DAW output. You should also by pass any efx bins as those can add a lot of latency to your system. Spacealf might be on to something. Often on board sound drivers take over Sonar and cause issues.
It is best to totally disable your on board drivers while troubleshooting.
Also you are aware that your computer should be optimized for audio.
Run the DPCLAT test to make sure it is in the green. Read their tips.

Thanks for the info---I finally decided to just start over and I did a hard reset of the Quad Capture by reinstalling the drivers.  That seemed to fix it.  Whew!

In the meantime I did some latency tests and it seems to think my machine's set up ok.  Thanks for the resource!

    Cheers!
