Ruben
JM, you did good! I also like the line about how it isn't easy to write love songs - cool lyric overall, tells a bit of a story. Nice vocal harmonies. I don't know if you played everything but it all sound good and I enjoyed it.
P.S. - I listened to a few of your other tunes - nice songwriting, and great guitar work/tones on "When I Met You".
Thanks for the nice complements! I love talking shop so:
I played everything except drums and horns. They are Toontrack Vintage kit Drums and Native Instruments Session Horns.
Slate Digital VIRTUAL CONSOLE COLLECTION on every track
Some of the summing buses have Waves REDD and Kramer Master Tape
Waves HLS Channel on the bass channel
Strat on left, Epi Casino on right, Epi Les Paul on solo
Fretless bass (no brand - made from parts).
Roland D-10 keyboard - organ
Most of my choices were to get an older sound. I was happy with noise some of the vintage plugins bring to the mix. I mixed the tracks totally dry first using only level sliders and pan knobs. I tweaked from there.
Mastering was done on Ozone 5. I did not slam the recording so it has a nice full dynamic range. You just have to "turn it up!" when listening. I can't take hyper compressed music anymore.
I could talk shop for hours. I love this stuff.
