Noise reduction ala Audacity - how can it be done?

Is there a way within Sonar to analyse a noise sample and then remove it? I know it can be done in Audacity. You select a section of the noise as a sample, using the Noise Removal option, you can then use it to remove that noise from the entire track or clip. I've used it successfully a few times but I hate having to move back and forth between Sonar and Audacity. Ideally a method or process using Sonar and/or it's shipped plugins would be ideal. At a push I'd get a 3rd party plugin.

Using Sonar X1 Producer.

Thanks

sonar doesn't do. anyway, nr is best done offline, requires mucho processing power, not for real time.

i use the sony nr in sound forge, does exactly what you want.

use audacity and adapt to the workflow. btw, make sure to work with a copy of the clip...

Audacity does some pretty audacious things well.

Most noise reducers like say, the waves znoize etc do the noise sample thing.

Could use various NR plugins within Sound Forge, launched from the "Utilities" menu selection and/or add Audacity or some other NR-capable program, like iZotope, R3 to the "Utilities" menu?

I use the ReaFir plugin in "Subtract Mode" which is part of the ReaPlugs Edition from Cockos (Reaper) web site.  (This is a free download.)
Once plugged into the track as an effect, it allows me to build a noise profile while playing back a section of the track with the noise I want to characterize.  On playback, it provides the FFT processing to remove that noise from the track in real-time.

I can't comment on how much "delay" this will put in the track as I'm not using it right now.

    Hope this helps,
    Paul
