That is a great deal and I've contemplated picking it up, as I love uprights; we even had one when I was a kid (a baby grand before, a Wurly, an organ with a Leslie speaker, etc.). But why is that every independent dev who comes out with an upright piano library in the past 7 years doesn't bother to have it tuned? There's already probably a dozen of them on the market. What is less common is a tuned upright (and ftr, I own SampleTekk's Rain Piano, NI's Upright and Giant and Precision Sound's Nordic Upright). I would love it if this dev would create another version of this library with the same piano sampled after it was tuned. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Agreed. It sounds nice if you want a truly retro, kinda grungy sound, but it's not a 'gap filler' in the way its blurb suggests. Lovely timbre but the tuning issues and 'wetness' of the demos make it a no-go for me. I'd also be right on board with buying a 'cleaned up' version.

I actually shot the dev an email expressing my perspective that a tuned version of this piano would be more differentiated than an untuned version (that is, the vast majority of upright pianos released from independent devs in the past several years are untuned). How do those of you who purchased or are planning to purchase this library feel; would you be willing to spend an additional $29 or $49 if the dev released a tuned version of the piano (and I don't mean tuned samples, but newly sampled version of the same piano after it has been tuned)?

I've been using The Giant lately. I used it on Ticket To Ride and it worked out nicely in the middle 8.

The various Pianoteq versions have an add-on called U4, which is a great sounding upright. You've even got a slide on the GUI that can go from perfectly tuned to horribly wonky and everything in-between. Obviously, that's not a Kontakt library, but it is a nice upright and Pianoteq Play is an excellent program.

I think the entire Piano thing is "genre specific" The right piano in the right piece of music...so to speak...I have far too many Piano's now... Wonder when the next one is coming out?

The reviews on YouTube are good. I'm not a pianist though and that breed are a fussy lot. How people ever learn to do such different things with their fingers at the same time I know not. Picking up a knife and fork is my limit. And the Yorkshire Ripper likes it too http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JyFBjDAbiUA

It's a pretty sounding upright for sure...
I'm a guitar player...barely..for 30+ years barely..LOL I watch guys play and it boggles my mind...and seeing people like Geddy Lee, who can play 2 things AND sing at the same time is a real mind blower...I can barely walk and chew bubble gum!

For an upright piano that has been tuned, I'd suggest checking out SampleTekk's Rain Piano (which has been around a long time, but is still a very nice piano; http://www.sampletekk.com...d=STDELIVER-004-FORMAT ) and Native Instrument's Steingraeber Upright Piano (another piano library that has been around several years, but is nice; http://www.native-instrum...e/keys/upright-piano/) and Giant (a more recent upright piano library that's a little different with a standard and cinematic version and some very cool presets; http://www.native-instrum...lete/keys/the-giant/). - Peter
I second the motion on both the Steingraeber Upright and Rain's, as I have them both. I got the Steingraeber a number of years ago in NI's Komplete Classics for quite a good deal through the Cake store here, [along with the included B4 II Organ, the Elektrik Piano which has boatloads of choices & Pro 53 Synth], and out of the 3 top quality grands and that one upright in there, I always seem to go for that Steingraeber right away, and never seem to even try the other 3. Edit: Day After Addition Forgot to mention the Upright Piano from NI. I fired the Steingraeber up and one of the presets is 'Wunderkind', which is also one in the 'Upright Piano' from NI. [Seems that a cross over may have been partially done between the 2.] I did a track with it recently and really liked it. It's a tuned Upright as well. I got it for $19 from MF few months ago [thanks to 'cclarry' I think] in case anyone might be tempted to watch for it. Maybe it will go on sale again as the stupid deal of the day. For now, it's too much though, but for $19 it was a steal! http://www.musiciansfrien...truments-upright-piano

Probably the upright I have that I like the best is the Vertikal jazz from Sampletekk. I have the Pianoteq U4 as well, and that's a good sounding instrument. My absolutely favorite based on demos is the Hume included in the Ivory Uprights package, but it's the only one in the set I really want which makes it a bit pricey. If I could buy that one on its own I'd jump on it.

I have the Vertikal Jazz too and agree it's a nice upright. I should have mentioned it! Btw, I emailed the Simple Sam Samples dev and let him know that I'd love to see a tuned version of his Vintage Upright Piano and he responded very kindly that he's open to it and that it wouldn't be that much of a hassle considering that it could use the same scripting as his current piano library. So, if others feel similarly, I'd recommend dropping the dev a line. But I really do appreciate that he's released what seems to be, based on the audio demo, a pretty nice sampled piano library on sale for only 29 bucks. I'd love to see more KONTAKT libraries at that price point.
