Thank You

I really need to get back here and comment more on other peoples songs.  I read the post in the Coffee House forum and I hate to admit it but I'm one of those guys who only comments when they post a song.  I have to change that.  But I need to really listen to a song and comment sincerely and that takes a lot of time.  But I'd rather do that than not listen to a song and leave a totally insincere comment like, "Great Job!!" or something.  I want to give truthful, helpful comments on songs that I like.  I think I'm gonna do a one song a day thing.  That way I can really take the time to listen and comment.

So many nice people here have commented on my music and it helps me a lot!!  The least I can do is return the favor.  That being said, here's a song i wrote & recorded some time ago and I'm just posting it now.  It's called "Thank You" which is an appropriate song title because I do truly thank you for all of your comments!!

Please enjoy and I promise to comment on songs that I like as well!!!

    "Thank You (Long Version)"

Oh you Thank me long time without charge extra. You alright Joe.

I've been DAWless for over a month. Tomorrow they're going to re-image it and I'm going to have to re-install "everything" My projects are on a USB drive so they're still there. I wouldn't wish system problems on most people (but some, and you know who you are? May your fleas be infested with the hard drives from 1,000 camels.)

You've been cranking them out here lately Ralphie boy. Some of the lead notes on this one? All I'm saying is whatever you were doing, you need to share ;-) Need to bring enough for the whole class.

Nice acoustic guitar sound.  Vocals fit very well too.  Nicely mixed, drums are coming in now, perfect level and the synths compliment everything well.  Around 3:00, everything's been going good, but I'm getting a little worn on the progression.  Guitar lead is nice, but a little long.  But hey, it's not like you didn't warn us in the title (Long Version), right?

In closing, it's a nice song.  I'd turn it up if I was listening to the radio and it came on, but I would change the station during the lead.  A lot of old rock does that to me too, and those were hits, so don't feel bad if this is what you intended.

Hey Robbie , It's more constipation than it is cranking them out.  What did George Harrison say? "All Things Must Pass".  Eventually they will.  I'm not even to the bottom of the barrel yet.  It actually gets worse.  Hahaha. But the solo does contain many a bad note.  I think that once again "Art imitates life".  You should have been around 5 yrs. ago when I recorded this.  I used to know a girl named Sharon, we used to call her Sharon Share Alike.  Hope you DAW situation works out.

Hey Tim, Nice to meet you!  Thanks for your compliments!!  I appreciate them.  Yes, this song needs to be whittled down a bit.  More than a bit.  Haha.  It's one of those songs that is just the same chord progression all the way through.  What do you call that?  Boring.  Lol.  Thanks for listening man!!

What they said.  But, I like the song, and it has plenty of potential.  You have a good voice, and if this song were around 3:30 to 4:00 it would have a greater impact.  There's a diamond in the rough here, and hopefully, you can polish this.

    All the best,

I like it.... my recommendations,  are as follows...

It really doesn't need the f-bomb in it. Edit that out and you have a cool song that becomes family friendly and commercially viable. Dark songs with the indy feel like that seem to be all the rage in movies and TV these days.

Shorten the tune ..... there is a nice safe landing place in it right around the 3 minute mark.  Save the guitar jam ending for the concert stage.  I love playing the guitar as much as any guitarist.

and if it's applicable,   de nada!

Don't mind the cuss words, sing it how you feel it bro. The drums could have a bit more distinction. The song is cool though.

It was a bit harsh. I would recommend some guitar lessons or stick with acoustic. At least it was a diversion from the vocals. Sorry to be honest. Although there is some potential with polish.

This is a cool song and I agree that it has great potential.  I also agree with above comments that it is a touch too long.  The guitar lead toward the end was a relief.  The F bomb word actually detracted from the song and should be dropped.  The mix sounds good to me and it should only take a few fixes to make this a great song.  I do like the guitar rant at the end of this piece.  It is a nice contrast to the lyrics.

Yep, a bit long to hold my attention span (jokes expected). Don't really need the F word? ( It kinda gave me shock every time I heard it which I thought detracted from the feel). I thought the vocals sat a little on top rather than with the instrumentation.

I like it, it's a great song, well done.

There are two types of songwriters, those that listen to other musicians and pick up ideas and inspiration from them (99%), and those that go their own way without listening to any other notes apart from their own (>1%). I think in this forum it's not only polite to listen to others if you want them to listen to yours, there are also some very, very fine musicians and songwriters that will give you honest, positive feedback in order to really help you get where you want to go.
