This has been an interesting thread for me, as I am currently shopping for a new interface to replace my dead MOTU 828MkII and the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 currently tops my short list of candidates. MOTU's support is notoriously bad - is it the general consensus that Focusrite is more responsive to customers?


This thread was the reason I got my Saffire. I am very thankful for all who chimed in, and have become a bigger fan of Focusrite since I got it. (Many who chimed in have the 40).

Glad to hear it. I just ordered a Saffire Pro 40. A slight step down from the MOTU but less than half the price. 


All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

The Saffire MixControl software can be a bit intimidating at first, but here is a nice 15 minute walkthrough video of it that may help you out if you are a new user.

@48/24 & 128 buffers latency is 367 with offset of 38.
