It does look interesting......some of it's editing features:

MIDI File Editing MidiYodi offers a rich set of tools to edit the content and structure of a MIDI file.
  • Single track files (type 0) can be "trackified" and converted (type 1).
  • Song can be transposed in half-tones up or down and individual tracks can be transposed in 8va's
  • Tempo can be altered. (View)
  • Tracks can have their name, instrument and volume changed.
  • Tracks can be removed.
  • Sections of the song can be cut out. (View)
  • Any MIDI event (meta, voice or system) can be added or updated. (View)
  • Voice events can be moved from one channel to another.
  • Save, Save As and Undo/Redo functionality included.

Hi there!
I'm the author of MidiYodi and yes, it can convert MIDI-files of type 0 (singletrack) to type 1 (multi-track) although not on the fly. It will notify you when you open a file of type 0 and ask if you want to "trackify" it, and if you do so it is converted to a filetype of 1.

Also, it is MidiYodi . I tried to be funny with Me and You. Me-di-you-di -> MidiYodi

Cheers,
Tom

This is a super useful little utility.

it is a .exe os it does not install itself as a Windows program  (you run it each time, it does not install), so that is a little annoying.  But other than that it does run and work as advertised.

I have thousands and thousands of midi files I have collected over the years, this is a really fast way to preview these and determine if they are good or awful midi compositions.  I build my own jam tracks in Sonar using these midi files.

You can of course do all the same things in Sonar, but it does take a lot of time to load up Sonar to assign instruments to all the midi tracks etc.  (even using TTS-1) and then find out the midi composition is a piece of crap.
