Velocity for all or for none?
The Velocity and Pedal displays in PRV are still horrible. But now, a new issue has cropped up, apparently since I upgraded to X3d.
Seems that now the choice is to see velocity for every note in the track, or none at all. If I choose "Show Velocity on selected notes only", all velocities disappear no matter what I've selected, and the Show Velocity option is unchecked. So I check Show Velocity, and now "Show Velocity on selected notes only" is unchecked. It's simple little regressions like this that are putting my project way behind schedule. Confusing and so irritating.
Assuming the above issue has a simple fix...
When I select some notes, and then want to adjust the velocities by drawing in the velocities pane, seems that as soon as I click into the velocities pane it goes back to affecting all notes. For example, say I have a melody line in a track thick with chords underneath it. I want to contour the velocity of just the melody line. Can't be done. I select the melody, see only those velocities, and then try to using the drawing tool to adjust them, but it goes back to showing me all velocities, so it affects the chords' notes as well. SO annoying.
I know, I know, move your melody into a different track. But wait - that's a PITA too. How about select a bunch of notes, right-click on them, and choose "Move selected notes to a new track". Oh, wait-- right clicking deletes a note. Well, that's handy I guess, I could select a bunch of notes to delete, wait -- you can only delete them one at a time unless you use the keyboard.
And why is it sometimes I can see the pedal markings and the velocities in the same pane, and sometimes not? Sometimes I want to see them both both only edit one of them? Sometimes I get this functionality. It's nice. But I completely don't understand how to turn it on and off.
Sonar is putting me in a grouchy mood this week.
