Homer Simpson circa. 1949

From an Icelandic magazine. A coincidence? Surely not.

... and you thought there was anything original in AMERICA. The whole country's facsimiled, copied, loaned, borrowed, or stolen from something, somewhere, or someone else...

But just to be sure there's no breach of legalities here... I see absolutely no reference, real or implied, to anything even remotely resembling a doughnut in this cartoon... so it can't be HS.

Truth is, I know a guy who looks like he could be the real Homer. Guess what his favorite 'toon is?

Should they ever do a 'real life' Simpsons movie, William H. Macy would be perfect for Ned Flanders.
