What a day...

I thought this day was going to suck.

We had an appointment w/ our car dealer today for oil change and a few little things that needed to be checked... For some strange reason, we rolled out of there w/ a brand new Cherokee with an interest rate that went from 25% to 5%, for a slightly lower monthly payment...

Next we had to drive to a friend's house - he's moving and we wanted to buy his grill. Among the things he said he didn't want to take with him was a M-Audio Keystation Pro 88. I've been considering an upgrade from 49 to 88 for the longest time, but I never thought I'd get something that big, with weighted keys and that many knobs and buttons and sliders... For FREE. :P

We arrived home and my new copy of The Dark Side of the Moon Experience Edition was waiting for me on the porch.

I was wrong. This day didn't suck.

Sounds like a candlelight dinner with a killer Cabernet or Pinot Noir is in order, no?

Noice!

I had one of those days yesterday.  Boy do they feel great compared to some of the more trying days I had over the last year!

Actually, unless she has 4 or 5 days off ahead, she usually avoids alcohol.

Eating fancy pizza, sitting in bed and watching MythBusters is one of our favorite things to do on her day off and that's what we opted for. :P

I have a Keystation Pro 88.  Unfortunately, it's been in storage because I'm in a small apartment with no room for it.  I like most everything about it.  It worked well with 8.5, once I figured out ACT.  I haven't yet tried it with the X-series.  One thing I noticed was that the keys make a bit of physical noise.  I could even hear it when I had my headphones on.  You should enjoy it though.  Enjoy it and the DSOTM.

It's quite big, isn't it? I'm used to bare bone little 49 keys which I can tuck away under my desk, and I'll probably keep my current one there for songwriting purposes/quick access. I'll have to order a stand for the 88 and a longer USB cable for it. The room is getting crowded and I'll have to start reconfiguring things sooner or later.

Three words (well, one hyphenated word and two other non-hyphenated words anyway):  Multi-layer keyboard stand.

The thing with this one is that in order to take full advantage of all the knobs and sliders, I'd need to give it the central spot and I just don't know how I'll be able to do that - not until it's time to upgrade the computers and I get an iMac and free some room.

I'll probably get monitors stands too - I hate myself for missing MF's stupid deal of the day yesterday, I could have grabbed a pair of stands for $50.

It is big.  I intended to take piano lessons, so I wanted at least 76 keys.  I found mine on sale, so I went for it.  I have a regular X type of stand that works pretty well.  You may want to get something sturdier for every day use--especially if you do the multi-tiered thing that Craig suggests.

It has to be said.............

You seem to be the kind of man who, if he fell into a deep pit full of deadly poisonous snakes, would emerge wearing a really cool pair of snakeskin boots carrying a matching handbag and shoes for the Mrs.

Or he'd have a bunch of new pets who, somehow, help him escape that hole.
