ikMultimedia Autherization question

My home office computer (not my DAW) was in the shop and had a new hard drive installed.  I have IKM products installed on it as well as my studio DAW.  It has been a couple of weeks and I am just getting around to running some music programs on the office computer.  However, I just noticed that my Amplitude 3 and T-Racks Grand and CS are no longer authorized on my home computer (but were prior to going into the shop).  I can only conjecture that IKM's authorizations are linked to hard drive ids.  Can anyone confirm that IKM's authorizations are linked to hard drives?  Interestingly enough, I did not loose my NI authorizations, but I think that is linked to the CPU id.  I still have only two IKM authorizations remaining of the five allowed, but just want to makes sure that I understand how IKM's authorization id process is linked to a given computer.

So, is IKM's authorization linked to the hard drive?

Yes it is. I had the same problem when I replaced my hard drive.

If I remember correctly, a BIOS update also screwed up my IK ARC authorization.
That's why I'm on my third of three authorizations with just one install.

Yea, I had that happen a few times with IK plugs. Once even a video card swap was enough for the machine code to change and had to reauthorize a few IK plugs. I used all 5 of my Philharmonic authorizations and it in reality it was only installed in 2 different computers.
The fact that IK uses the machine code method does deter me from investing more in IK.

Yes, you can de-authorize but that still cost you 1 of the 5 authorizations you have.

5 Authorizations when they are depleted....

appreciate the info all you have given.  I had heard before that IKM would reset the 5 authorizations, but I could not know for sure why my authorizations got lost; the new hard drive did that.

    Thanks everyone.

Just to add to the Larry's post.

I do my own thing, processing the dark depths of warez cracks before even purchasing a program demanding online company-controlled activation..  IK's authorization manager can be taken down in a nuclear hollacost. If I survive out here, can authorize on a million computers. Illegal in the fine legal crap print, but moral to me as long as I'm respecting and protecting the confines of the licensing agreement I paid for.

This said, if you go the company controlled only route, IK is more than generous. Got confirmation from a rep years ago that they are offering five authorizations. Who gots five computers?  If circumstances were whatever that you ran out of authorizations, send a letter to IK telling what got forked up, and they will reset the authorizations to another five. Liberal and properly heathen gesture from the folks, working with us as mistrusted end point thieves.

They however open a good generous playing field and are willing to grant you another five if the excuse is good enough. As long as they are in business, and you don't have to migrate the programs to another computer, all is well.
