Copy and paste automation issue...

In X3d I'm trying to copy and paste volume automation into another location in the same track. I select "Copy Special", and choose just the automation, then "Paste Special". The automation gets pasted, but the audio is missing in the place where the automation was pasted. I check in the advanced paste options, I can see that as well as the automation being pasted there's a grayed out, ticked box for "Events" that I can't un-tick. I think this is what's screwing it up, if I could somehow un-tick that box.....
