MIDI Input only on ARMED, not SELECTED tracks?

Is there a way to enable MIDI input only on tracks that are ARMED (set to record), rather than selected?

I use a lot of keyswitch-articulation instruments. I have always found it too easy in Sonar to bump an instrument out of the articulation I intended because of an errant MIDI keystroke.

I guess I can somewhat control this by disabling "always echo current MIDI track" in settings, but I LIKE auto-echo when the track is selected.

Really it's the fault of some plugins (e.g. EastWest's) who don't have easy articulation locking without cumbersome articulation loading/unloading.

Maybe restricting the data the troublesome plug-ins see using the MIDI Event filter would help

I have the same problem all the time on midi tracks and I hate it because in sonar X1 and prior versions it wasnt like this.

In sonar X1, when you armed a track, it was automatically selected and auto monitoring engaged.
But I dont know why they changed that in X2 or X3...cant remember.

Now I need to click twice, one click for selecting the track and another click for arming, its ridiculous how many times I just clicked to arm a midi track and when I start to record...I notice Im trying to play a piano and is sounding the midi track drums! because last track I recorded were the drums....

Please cakewalk...can you go back to the way X1 and prior versions worked?? ARMED track= Selected and monitored in just one click

I may be missing something here but is there any reason why you don't use the "Allow MIDI Recording without Armed Track" option in Edit > Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording? With this option enabled, you only need to select the track you want to record into and then hit R to start recording. There's no need to arm and disarm tracks.
