[Solved] waveform preview when recording is all jumpy

All of a sudden, the waveform being drawn, as I am recording, does it in random steps, rather than a smooth scrolling with the time bar.  Looking at the "help" files, all it says is that Sonar takes "Snapshots at CERTAIN intervals"...   Well it seems to be doing that, but jumping about 1/2 bar approx at a time.
What's going on?  Why isn't it drawing it smoothly anymore?

btw...not talking about with MIDI tracks etc...  This is an actual audio track.

also...on playback..the "timeline" bar...or whatever you call it... jumps instead of scrolling smoothly.
    What did I break?

ok...where the **** is the "pause key"...  obviously not my spacebar.   I must of hit it somewhere...because that's what's happening.... the "now time" is jumping at one second intervals.  I don't like it!!!
