Accessing ReValver in Sonar X3?
I've Googled it, but the only instructions I could find in order to access ReValver in Sonar apply to an older version of Sonar; the interface for Sonar X3 is different. I tried cakewalk's knowledge base - same thing. I still have no clue on how to access ReValver from Sonar x3...would anybody 'round these parts know? Thanks!

Since this is your first post, I'm guessing it's a basic question. I do have ReValver (3).. but I've not got the time to install it.. but it should work just like other vst effects. Assuming you already know how to insert an audio track and record on it. The next step is to insert ReValver as vst effect. You do this by pointing your mouse at the FX box of the audio track, right click and select Audio-FX. Since I've not installed it, I'm not sure if you'll find ReValver under VST2 or VST3 (most likely is VST2) - and it's simple enough to just browse and look for ReValver. Hope this helps, if not, describe the issue in more detail.

Welcome! There's a learning curve with something like SONAR, and some homework is required. How have you tried to use ReValver? Why Google when you have the help files and tutorials in front of you??? Have you done the tutorials and read the manual? Inserting FX , VSTs and soft synths are the basic stuff. The starting point is that ReValver is installed where SONAR can find it. Are you using the one tha came with earlier version of SONAR?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

yeah, like tomixornt said, right click in the FX bin and insert ReValver on an audiotrack. Easy peasy:)

I mis-spoke, what I meant to say is that ReValver isn't showing in the Sonar VST folders at all, and the tutorials seem to apply to an older version of Sonar... Anyway, I figured out that to access VST setup, I need to go to Edit> Preferences>VST setup. I've rescanned for VST plug-ins several times - ReValver still isn't showing in the Sonar VST folders...I'm not sure what I'm missing here?

The most common issue if this kind is ReValver vst is installed into a folder that is not scanned by Sonar. You can manually move the ReValver vst into the standard folder which is 32bits : C:\Program Files(x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins or 64bits : C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins If you're not sure, uninstall ReValver and install it again, during installation it will (probably) ask you where you want to place the vst (and you can check if it's 32 or 64 bits).

There is also an option in Sonar preference to add a new folder for the vst scan.

Thanks guys, figured it out! Rather than being in the Revalver folder, the VST plugin was kept in a Steinberger folder, that's why I couldn't figure it out! It's recognised by Sonar now, all is good! Thanks! :D

Thank you Captain, I went through everything you went through and finally found this thread...I don't know if I would have ever figured out the dll was in a Steinway folder and not the Peavey folder. Thanks again, Randy
