Vienna MIR Pro In Sonar X3

I'm using Sonar Producer X3.

Is there anyone here using Vienna MIR Pro in Sonar? If so could you spend a little time helping me to get started?

I'm seriously thinking of buying this to replace Altiverb and I have the Trial Version installed together with the RoomPak 1. The MIR Pro VST is installed and added to Sonar.

When I open Sonar, the Vienna MIR Pro also opens with the room I selected. I just cannot see how to add instruments or place my instruments on the MIR Pro virtual stage. I've spent hours now reading manuals and endless searching but can't find the exact info I need.

If there is anyone who can help with this I'd be very grateful.

Thanks.

Usually you would route through VEP5/MIR unless you are just using MIR by itself as an audio plug. The first way you'll find Tabs in VEP that say instrument, mixer, MIR pro... MIR pro is where the placement takes place. As for The second way, you can insert MIR plugin in the FX bin of an existing synth audio or regular audio track which. I prefer VEP5/MIR. Do you have VEP or just MIR? Also, DON'T use VST3 version as it is not 'implemented' in Sonar X3 ( you'll get silent bounces). Also you will have a 16 midi channel limit in Sonar, which you work around by freezing/bouncing and loading another instance of the same room/mic position and continuing.

I really am aware of chime in here.... I am afraid of ban if I write once again about limitation of Sonar in working with VSL libraries {VST3}. It seems that I am not only one....

    Hello Blogman,

Are you actually using Vienna MIR Pro in Sonar X3? It sounds as if you might be able to help.

I have just the MIR Pro Plugin (I don't have VEP5). I have installed MIR Pro and it loads in Sonar. When I insert an instance of MIR Pro into an audio track, the MIR Pro engine opens just like it says in the manual. However, the instrument isn't showing in the engine window and there is no sound from that track. When I switch off the plug in the track the track sounds again.

I have tried clicking the 'Connect' icon but nothing happens. I have asked in the MIR forums and am still waiting for a reply there. I'm not sure if they would know a great deal about Sonar though so it would be particularly relevant if I could fine a Sonar user who is using just the MIR Pro plugin or who could try it and can confirm this actually does work in Sonar.

Can you check this out for me and if it is working for you do you have any suggestions I could try?

    Thanks.

You might need to try starting up in stand alone mode first, just so it knows how to do that. Also might need to make sure your eLiscenser control software is up to date. I generally use it with VEP5, but I have used stand alone before to try it out. Since it had been awhile, I loaded up a test project and inserted MIR... same thing as you, wouldn't connect. Noticed a message about eLiscenser control , updated. ( may or may not have anything to do with it) Then for fun, I opened up the stand alone MIR, picked a room just to make sure it loaded. I then closed MIR stand alone. Opened up my test project and now MIR plugin connects. So maybe it needs to be fired up at least once from standalone to initiate the preferences. Shouldn't need that but once. Just to be clear, I opened standalone and closed stand alone. then reopened Sonar project. Once connected the 'connecting' button changes to Raise MIR control window. Try that stuff and see what happens.
