Cakewalk X3 produced: The Last Mission of Cassini Seven
I think X3 is noticeably better than X2. Noticed some hiccups, but not too bad and X3e may resolve them. Used lots of soft synths ("Razor", "Endless", "Dimension", "Ultra-Analog") and some Korg Trinity, X5d and Kronos. Anyway, I'm proud of the result. This album is symphonic/electronic and was the soundtrack for a space, sci-fi play, "The Last Mission of Cassini Seven". More information: http://www.doctorobvious.com/?p=521 Apparently you can't embed SoundCloud here (preview shows it, but then it is removed). So, here's the link: https://soundcloud.com/doctorobvious/sets/the-last-mission-of-cassini I welcome constructive criticism (thrive on it in fact). Thanks for your time, Mark

Ugh, I see that I have to have made 25 posts in order for my links to work.... despite the fact that I've been a member for 10 years.

I guess this might be a good time to mention that I used NASA recordings of Apollo 11 astronauts. Mark

I also think it is fun to combine traditional instruments (orchestra) with non-traditional (dub-step bass). My musical philosophy is that all tools are viable if they contribute to an interesting and pleasing result. Thoughts? Mark

I've also found that it is getting harder and harder to gain traction (even among my social circles) getting people to listen to music. Have you found any approaches that are successful without being annoying to others? Mark

I will mention that Diego Stocco's tutorial on "Rhythmic Processing" was worth the $10. It definitely got me thinking about effects routing in new and interesting ways. I used this on "The Galaxy Next Door". Mark

Oooh, another recommendation: "PanCake" a free VST for automated pan adjustments (according to patterns). And if you like that, there is a volume modifying one that costs 10 or 20. Mark

Disasterpeace has produced some very interesting music. Does anyone know where I can find out more information about his gear and production techniques? Thanks, Mark

Okay, this is my last semi-trivial post as I will hopefully have 25 posts. I hope this hasn't been terribly annoying to anyone. Thanks for your patience. Mark

You could have listened to other people's music, just a thought. I zapped through your 35 minute magnum opus, competent if not boring, Rik

Hi Rik, Thanks for listening. What could I do to make it more interesting? Thanks, Mark P.S. Sorry for my lack of previous posts, I've been a bit of a lurker. I'll try to find some of your music to listen to.

Try not to be Hans Zimmer, he's ruined many a good movie with excessive dynamics and drums and percussion.imho It's all very competent , do I want to listen to the whole thing ? Probably not, sorry. Rik
