Easy questions, easy answers.

I'm sorry, but is it just me... There are a lot of questions that are being asked that have been answered, and are easily searchable.  Some questions are so basic, that it seems you should not even own Sonar X3, and perhaps cut your teeth on a more basic sequencer.  I'm not trying to start trouble, but it does amaze and baffle me.

I somewhat agree, sometimes people get lazy, they want to be handfed links and dialog.
other times these simple issues need to be refreshed sometimes and some may have missed the train and now they learn something new from something so easy they over looked it.

whats getting me are these threads from someone that pokes at other users asking for help.
no need for that. (not talking about you.)

Windows 8.1 X64 Sonar Platinum x64
Custom built: Asrock z97 1150 - Intel I7 4790k - 16GB corsair DDR3 1600 - PNY SSD 220GB
Focusrite Saffire 18I8 - Mackie Control

Its not our job to worry about the quality of the questions. We are not obligated to answer any question but we do because we want to help a fellow Sonar user. If the question doesn't appeal to you don't answer. Someone else will that simply wants to help.

Yes some questions are basic and can be found in other places but over time when a user comes here and asks a basic question he/she will learn how to find the answer on their own. If we treat everyone as we wish to be treated they then may come here to help others and this forum will go on.

There is a beginners forum but few people populate it. I don't blame people for coming here.

Yes, I did a search on my Addictive Drums question, but the blog on it didn't come up and was close to what I was looking for!

Often the polite answer should be "I searched the forums for you and found this link'.

Or maybe this is a better idea:

I been a Cakewalk user about 15 years (I started with HS 6), and can usually find the answer myself, but sometimes I get stuck and come here.  I've found not matter how dumb the question, I almost always get a polite, helpful answer.  I always appreciate it.

I would guess that many users of Sonar do not even know what a sequencer is, and that some never use the sequencer capability that is built into Sonar.

I am not too concerned about people posting simple questions, I can ignore them if I choose to punish them for their ignorance. More often I do not attempt to answer questions because of my own ignorance. My area of particular ignorance is in the audio editing and processing area of the program. Most of my questions in that area would probably seem very simple indeed. Luckily, I can lurk about and let some other poor sap ask the simple questions for me while I sit back and look like I know what I am doing.

What does sometimes annoy me is people posting with vague and unhelpful subject lines like: Help! or Probably a simple question. If they have not done enough work defining the problem to produce a meaningful subject line, I have to get into the thread to find out if there is anything there for me.

I don't mind easy questions if something in the post indicates the OP has done some homework. What does annoy me are the ones who haven't realised they have to work themselves.
I was once stumped by a comment to an answer of mine:" I did not realise the Help Files actually include the instructions to use SONAR!" What can you say!?
Many, many of the questions would've been answered in a minute simply by typing the search word in the Help File search field. Instead, people wait for hours or days to be spoonfed here.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I hear what you are saying. I also believe that the kind person answering the question also gets a refreshers course as to how sonar works. Two for the price of one. That is a sale if you ask me.

It is generally considered 'good form' for a new Sonar user to take a stab at spending some time with the tutorials and videos, and/or one of the books, but there is no identified 'requirement' to do so.

Music can be basic but so profound that it helps others to say hey I get it! Simple can be unique or even simple can be delicate simple can be exactly what was needed at the time. Sometimes we are not in the right head space to speak and frustration gets the better of us especially when we are anxious. Honey where did you put my slippers? Then she says they are on your feet...you may feel like a twit but at times it can get the better of us. We are human even though some people do not think so. The one who asks simple questions maybe making a song that you may even fall in love with or even wish that it was your creation. Now who is the simple one who has a million pound equipment and cant even make a decent song and the lyrics are poor quality not to mention sounding like your poor old granny is being suffocated. Yet you know everything about chord progressions uses all real instruments has a degree in mastering but your whole mix sounds like it was made for Super Mario Brothers 2.

Trying to be clever making music in your moms basement asking your ninety year old Mother when dinner will be ready and throwing the dinner away when you find Mothers false teeth swimming in the soup.

But I digress it is good to ask questions but remember sometimes we are not in the right head space at the time!
