Quirky yet catchy tune. And + 1 to Tony - great rock mix. Oh... and yes, the topic is ultimately on-topic.

Thanks Steve - yeah, this is the first track in a long while that I have finished of my own material... Been doing a lot of recording and mixing other artists, so I haven't had much of a chance to work on it...
Thanks again for listening and commenting!

I can't tell you how many times I have used those very words, myself. This is a good example of a modern rock/pop classic. I look forward to hearing this song several more times, as it's right up my alley.

Very cool. Classic rock. I'd be tempted to fatten up the little guitar break/licks at :16 and about 1:17 and 3:55 to the end. it sounds a bit like a chicken. Lol maybe that's the point? It pulls me out of the intense vibe that was going so well. A great song tho. Well done.

Haha!... never thought about that... yeah, I guess it does sound a bit like a chicken! Well spotted!... Yeah, from an arrangement/songwriting angle, the aim of that part was to be provide both an instrumental hook for the verse & a sparse contrast/counterpoint to the "wall of sound" intensity happening in the choruses - I also wanted it to be a bit off-kilter & quirky - just like a chicken, I guess . Thanks again for listening & offering thoughtful comments - cheers!

Yep...I can relate totally to this one :) Love this.Great classic rock feel to it. I'll tell you what I heard with the mix but I need to tell you why...All I have where I am is ear buds. I hear a lot of mids...more than anything else.Probably sounds great on a full system. That's kind of common with earbuds, as a suggestion maybe bump up the bass and kick in the higher ranges so the song at least has a small "thump" on earbuds and laptop speakers. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for listening & commenting so thoughtfully too, Tim - I'll definitely check the translation on a smaller system - It sounded good on my cruddy little Auditek computer speakers at work, but it may need a little tweak to translate on iPhone/iPad/earbuds - I'll follow that up. Thanks! daryl1968 Excellent mix. Cool song well performed. And, yes it's a subject close to my heart.

Life does get in the way sometimes, but then again if it didn't, you'd not have anything to write such cool songs about. I thought the vocal took some time to become established in the song (or the mix) but it was definitely the hero in the end. Guitar was ok too.

yea this was a real rocker...mix was killer...vox done very very well...love the overall arrangement. If I were a producer-type and were more interested in sales then artistic value, I'd tend to want to nix the 3 lil guitar parts as I think it takes away more than it brings to song overall. Please dont get me wrong, I write & produce just the opposite most of the time because I love not being boxed in....so I totally "get it". In the same vain I'd have you rethink the lead....and suggest that you got some killer licks in there and ask yourself does the quirkiness (the odd flow) of the lead add more than it takes away? The strength of this tune (with my production hat on) is that rollin down the road rock sound...the two pieces above kinda got me side-tracked. With all the above said this is one hell'of'a'tune! And you have some great talent in the booth and on the deck....great work! Thanks for the share!

Hey Tom, thanks for such a well thought out critique! I do agree, those are great questions to ask from a producing POV. I think (in my mind at least) the tune started out more quirky than it ended up sounding. I was looking to the solos etc to inject some of that originality and quirkiness back into the sound, but it may be that I had already created the expectation of a more pop orientation with the production decisions I made, and I ended up shooting myself in the foot somewhat. Thanks again for the listen and comment!
