Hello Guys: I downloaded X3 over the weekend. Do I need to run X3e in addition? Thank you!

Yes FWIW, there is a "Check for Program Updates..." function in the Help menu.

I'll confirm and also state that the "e" patch is cumulative... meaning it includes all the previous alphabetic patches up to "e".

I wonder why they do it this way. It seems it would make more sense to simply put the full version with the updated code on the download site. You end up wasting bandwidth.

I would also recommend it. Patch is solid.

I guess at least with this way, if a version introduces a conflict, you can try a different an earlier update. When I started my X3 download 2 nights ago, it was pretty quick, but it slowed yesterday morning and took about 8 hours for one of the options. Just downloading X3e now, and it's predicting 4 1/2 hours. May have something to do with that last minute rush of sales I guess

What if you need for whatever reason to revert back to an earlier versions? I think CW has been doing it this way so we are not locked into a version that could prove a problem.

I don't know any companies that update the original download and give you a single download. Some plugins allow you to install the latest version without installing the first plugin.
It doesn't work because of the time span that products are on the market. When do you do the cumulative release. Just means a lot of unnecessary recompiling of code.

My Sonar downloads only took about an Hour each, 3a then later 3e. But I'm re installing from the downloads right now. Iv'e done X3a ( 12 min) and if Melodyne would finish installing ( 1 hour) I could get on with X3e. I should have skipped Melodyne. I never use it anyhow.
